Why is it a rule,
That leaving friends behind is what we do?
We finish our classes strong,
Plans to keep in touch go oh so long.
Yet they never seem to stick
The way we forget so easily is just so sick.
I never agreed to this,
Letting go is bullshit,
I need people don't ya see,
I need people but
I guess
they don't need me.
On top of it all I moved away
I yearned for freedom some would say.
But change isn't all it's cracked up to be,
There's no one here who knows the real me.
Trying to make new friends but it's hard,
Always going in too little or pushing it too far.
I never agreed to be alone
Now I spend all my time on my phone,
I just need people don't ya see,
I need people but
I guess
They don't need me.
I know I'm not the only one,
I'm just worse at faking having fun.
Still it doesn't make it any easier,
And every day it's driving me a little crazier.
Feel like I should be doing things instead of hiding in my Lit.
But who the hell am I supposed to do things with?
I never agreed to be so anxious,
Every time I'm overwhelmed by all the new faces.
I need the right people, to be my people, don't ya see?
I need people but
I guess
They don't need me.
I wish I could make this story happier,
But I can't write fiction any sappier.
Not about to pretend,
That I don't panic every time I hit send.
What will happen next, place your bet,
Can't tell you about what hasn't happened yet.
I never agreed to be such a mess,
Tell me now, tell me how, to worry less.
I need people, where are you, can't you see?
I need you but
I guess
You don't need me.
