In honor of Good Friday.

He gasps out a sob, a question on his cracked lips,

Why are you so quick to violence?

What could I have done differently?

I showed you my love,

I gave you my heart,

What can I do to help you see?

Yet his ears still ring with our cry,

Crucify!

Crucify!

His tears stream silently, the pain splinters his heart,

Why do you push me away?

What could I have done differently?

I healed your sick,

I cast out your demons,

What can I do to help you see?

Yet his ears still ring with our cry,

Crucify!

Crucify!

He holds back a yell of anguish, the nails impale his skin,

Why do you deny who I am?

What could I have done differently?

I turned your water into wine,

I called you each by name,

What can I do to help you see?

Yet his ears still ring with our cry,

Crucify!

Crucify!

He struggles to find a breath, but looks up to the sky,

My God,

Why have you forsaken me?

My God,

What have I done wrong that it has come to this?

My God,

Forgive them, they know not what they do,

I pray this will open their eyes,

I will remember them when they come into my kingdom,

What can I do but give up my soul to you,

for them?

Some bow their heads as he breaths his last,

yet many of us still cry with false joy,

He is crucified!

He is crucified!

Christ Jesus thank you for your sacrifice and your pain, you deserved none of it but still you went through with it to open our eyes and to provide us the chance to be rejoined with you when we die. Please help us to live serving you and helping those around us as you did during your time on earth. Forgive us for putting you through this.

Amen.
