Chapter 5:

"So you're telling me, you cut your hand and never noticed?" Hermione asked as she and Aiden were walking to the library. He had cut his hand when facing the troll and hadn't noticed the wound on his palm. "Yeah basically." he looked at his hand, seeing a little amount of dried blood still on it. He didn't know why it didn't hurt at all, maybe it was because it was just a minor wound, if it was worse he would've felt it. "I think you should still go to Madam Pomfrey, otherwise it would turn into a scar," Hermione said as she eyed the wound on the boy's hand. He let his hand down and shook his head no. "I'm fine, I don't need to visit the infirmary." He placed his hands behind his head and walked into the library, Hermione following close behind not precisely pleased with his previous answer. "So what exactly are you looking for?" She asked, seeing him look through the first shelf he came across, "Just... a book." He answered.

"Very helpful, Aiden."

"Well, it's a red book..."

She crossed her arms and waited for him to continue. He just stared back at her, not wanting to tell her about the book, he didn't want to bore her with the whole explanation. Maybe it wasn't smart to bring her? "I'll just bore you with the explanation..." Hermione pulled a face as if telling him to just tell her and it worked, somehow the look she pulled convinced him to tell her.

"Okay fine so, It's this book about the History of the Fireheart family. I came across it and thought it was about my family, as there are quite some secrets going on, for example... my father won't speak about my grandfather, so I wanna use the book to find out about him but then again, I don't even know if it's about my family." He finished and looked back at the brunette, it seems she had been listening very closely, something he didn't think she would. "It's a very normal reason you know." She said as she too started scanning the bookshelves. Aiden looked at her with his eyebrows raised, "Is it?" She only nodded. Although Aiden didn't believe her, a reason like that couldn't be normal, It shouldn't. He thought that he had the right to know about his own family, he didn't want to find out through some book. Why must father keep secrets..." He muttered, Hermione happened to hear his muttering only she couldn't understand what he had said exactly. "What did you say?" She asked.

"Oh nothing," Hermione looked away from him with a suspicious look before the pair moved onto another bookshelf.

"Also...I don't see why you would think that would bore me, the explanation you know." Aiden looked her way paying full attention to her. "I guess I just thought--" He started but Hermione interrupted him. "Enough with the assuming, okay?" Hermione said with a smile, she then continued her examination through the bookshelves, occasionally pulling out a book to study it better. "Also Hermione, could you not say anything about this trip or well not the reason, I haven't told Hayden yet. I first want to make sure that it's about us, you know?" Hermione nodded at him, completely understanding where he came from. Aiden smiled. "I won't say anything, ill try to save your butt if you mess up and tell anyway!" she said followed by a giggle. Aiden chuckled, leaning against the bookshelf. After their laughter died down and maybe a little scare by Madam Pince, considering they had been laughing quite loudly. Aiden took a look at the bookshelf they stood before. "I saw it in this very bookshelf, I was here when Hayden wanted me to sing so badly—"

"And I was the only one to hear it." She said rather proudly, Aiden only rolled his eyes at the girl's comment. "Yeah well, it was to comfort you." He said with a slightly annoyed face, As much as he tried to hide it, singing to her was still quite fun to him but he will most certainly not do it again, way too embarrassing.

"I never actually said thank you for that or for protecting me."

"You don't have to say thank you for that, you're my best friend, of course, I'd do that for you," Aiden answered not taking his eyes off the books in front of him. Then Hermione hugged him out of nowhere. "What the hug for?" He asked while a light blush crossed his cheeks. "To say thank you." She said as her grip grew stronger. "I just told you—"
