Chapter 9:
By the time the 5 Gryffindors had finally figured out how to approach the situation with all this information, it had gotten dark and they had to sneak out of the castle to Hagrids hut. Out of all of them, Hayden was the only one that was against the plan, he said they could go in the morning, but of course, none of them listened and Aiden slurred his brother along with them. The 5 Gryffindors carefully made their way to Hagrid's hut and made their way up to the front door. Harry knocked a few times on the huge door and soon enough Hagrid stood at the opening. With a sigh he said. "'Ello yeh lot. 'Orry, don't wish to be rude, but I'm in no fit state to entertain yeh today." He was about to close the door but Aiden held his hand against it, trying to keep it open as best he could. Although this didn't seem to help one bit as the door began to close like normal as if the boy wasn't already trying his hardest.
"We know about the Philosopher's stone!" All of them said together. The door swung open again and Hagrid's mouth stood agape. "Oh." he made way for the kids and they all walked in after him. "We think Snape's trying to steal it," Harry said as he took off his cloak. He sat down on the seats by the fireplace, Ron joining him while Aiden, Hayden and Hermione sat on the opposite side. "Snape? Blimey, you're not still on about him, are you?" Hagrid's back turned towards them.
"Hagrid, We know he's after the stone, the signs are so obvious at this point." Aiden started.
"The only problem is that we don't know why." Hayden finished as he sunk onto the couch, even if he didn't want to participate in the sneaking-out plan, he was still gonna help with the situation. He reached into his pocket and took out a small notebook. He held it up for all of them to see. "I wrote everything down in my notebook. When you read every single sign I've written here, and when you connect them it clearly shows that Snape is after the stone." Hayden shoved the book back into his pocket and leaned back.
"Snape is one of the professors protecting the stone. He's not 'bout to steal it."
The students looked at the half-giant in confusion. "You heard. Right, Come on, now, I'm a bit preoccupied today." He motioned for them to stand up and leave, but that didn't get them to leave, as Harry spoke up once again. "Wait a minute, 'one of the teachers'?"
"Of course!" Hermione Began. "Other things are defending the stone, aren't there?" Every single head turned towards the bushy-haired girl. "Spell, enchantments." She finished.
Hagrid sends her a nod. "That's right, Waste of bloody time, if you ask me, Ain't no one gonna get past fluffy." He chuckled lightly. "Aint a soul knows how, except for me and Dumbledore. I shouldn't have told you that. I should not have told you that." He turned his back towards the kids and just when he did something started making noise behind-- well in front of Hagrid. He reached into the pot and took out a huge oval-shaped object but since he moved around so quickly, you couldn't exactly see and identify it easily. The five kids stood up and joined Hagrid by the table. "Hagrid, what exactly is that?"
"Oh come on Harry, It's a Dragons egg!" Aiden said excitedly, He could only recognize it so easily because of the books he's read that mentioned them. The books they had laying around at home, He would sometimes take a book and look through it. Hagrid pats the boy on his head. "Good Aiden, How'd you know that so quickly?"
"Well, we have a lot of books at home that involve dragons, I'd say our home library is filled with fantasy books and books about magical creatures, you know, and I sometimes look through some and recognize it from a picture, don't know from which dragon it is though."
