L O V E R - a Leah Williamson story

chapter one

"Little." I shouted down my phone whilst running through my flat that I had just moved into.

"What is it y/l/n?" Kim chuckled through the phone. I knew her through the Scottish National team, we weren't the closest of friends, however we did have the occasional chat. Usually it was to do with Scotland.

"Guess who you'll be seeing a lot very soon?"

She sounded very confused "Who? It's not you, we're not playing at Scotland anytime soon?" I could imagine how her face looked right now, probably all scrunched up with a pout.

"Oh I can confirm it is definitely me." I could feel the excitement from my news start to bubble up again. Arsenal had always been my dream team, even growing up I had a scarf and a signed top hanging on my wall.

For the past few years I had been playing at Manchester United, and even though I loved it and I loved the girls, nothing could beat playing for my dream team.

"What? y/n I am so confused, tell me what's happening?"

"Guess who just signed for Arsenal!" I exclaimed with a huge grin taking over my face.

"NO WAY!"

Kim ended the call and then began to facetime me. She looked excited and a little suspicious, probably because I am a bit of a prankster. "Y/n tell me your not joking right now, because I swear if this is a prank I will drive up to Manchester and kill you."

"There would be no need, I've already moved down to London." I said with a smile and doing a little dance to show my excitement.

"OMG Y/N WE'RE TEAMMATES!"

"YUP!" I chuckled to myself, I've never seen Little this excited in my time of knowing her. I reached over to grab my cup of hot chocolate and took a sip. I've never been a huge fan of tea or coffee, a lot of the girls at United would laugh at me for it.

I smiled to myself remembering all the funny memories I had with my old teammates. I was so excited for this new chapter in my life that I hadn't really stopped to think about how much I would miss the girls at United.

"Y/n you there?" Kim said while waving her arms at the screen, trying to get my attention.

"Yeah, yeah. Sorry just spaced out for a sec." I said with a sad smile on my face.

"What's got you down y/l/n? Just a minute ago you were jumping from joy, literally."

"Just thinking about the United girls"

Kim smiled at me, "You miss them?"

"Yeah...more than I thought I would"

"Trust me y/n, you'll fit right in at Arsenal. The girls will love you. You will always be able to contact the United girls when you want a chat, just like we did." She reassured me.

"Thank you Kim, you're right. Anyway I must be off I've gotta sort out all my stuff in my new flat." I smiled with a wave, grateful that I had her there to help reassure me.

"No problem, I'm always here to chat if you need. See you later!"

After finally finishing up in the kitchen I walked through to my bedroom and took a seat on my new bed.

I looked around my new room and sighed to myself when I realised how bare it looked. I had left all my decoratives in Manchester thinking that it wouldn't be important, clearly it was.

"God this place needs a bit of personality." I said as I rummaged through my suitcase looking for my Arsenal scarf that I brought with me from my home in Scotland.

I pinned it up above my bed and chuckled to myself.

"This will have to do for now."

I looked down at my watch and widened my eyes after I saw the time.

"Jesus I better get to bed, I need to get up early tomorrow to officially sign my contract."

I crawled into my bed and stared up at the ceiling until I felt my eyes start to close, thinking about how tomorrow was going to go.

"Ugh"

I rolled over and shut my alarm off. Pulling myself out of bed, I walked through to the bathroom after grabbing my kit and switched on the shower.

I grimaced at myself in the mirror after seeing how tired I looked. The move down from Manchester had really taken it out of me and I was hoping that this shower was going to make myself look more presentable. I had to make a good impression on my first day.

I hopped into the shower and smiled, it doing it's job at making myself feel better.

After showering and getting ready I grabbed my things and ran out the door and down to my car.

I had spent too long trying to look good that I was now going to be late.

"Christ y/n pull yourself together, you cannot be late on your first day."

After driving definitely at the speed limit I had finally arrived at the stadium. I looked around in awe at the place. This was my dream and I was finally living it.

I walked through to the reception area and up to the lady at the desk.

"Hi I'm y/n y/l/n, I'm here to sign my contract." I said with a polite smile on my face, trying to look calm on the outside when in reality I was absolutely shitting myself.

She looked at some computer and then looked up at me and smiled back. "Oh yeah, I'll just go and get someone for you."

"Thank you."

A couple of minutes later the receptionist returned with a man.

"Hello y/n it's wonderful to finally meet you. My name is Jonas, please follow me." The man said while he held his hand out for me to shake.

"Lovely to meet you Jonas."

I followed him into what I assumed was his office. After signing a few things it was official. I was now an Arsenal player.

"Feel free to have a wonder round, the girls are training outside so you can go out and look at how we do things."

"I definitely will, thank you." I replied with a smile.

"Training for you starts tomorrow morning."

I walked out of the door and found my way outside to where all of the other girls were.

I stood at the side watching everyone for a while, they all looked like such good players, I felt intimidated. Eventually people had started to notice a random girl standing at the edge of the pitch watching them. Three girls ran over to me, one being Kim who gave me a huge hug.

"Great to see you again y/n! This is Beth on my right," She pointed to the girl who gave me a wave and a chuckle. "It's so good to finally meet you y/n, I've been amazed with your ball skills since you beat us last year." Beth said.

I laughed, "Yeah it's great to see you, you're amazing!"

Kim interrupted Beth and I, "And this is Leah, she also captains the lionesses." She pointed to Leah and I was frozen. Of course I had seen her before in matches and on the TV but seeing her this close and talking to her made me stunned. She was crazy beautiful.

"Lovely to meet you, I can't wait to be your teammate and not against you for once." she laughed. Her laugh was amazing.

"Wow yeah, you're like crazy good, it's gonna be great to not be on the receiving end of those tackles for once." We all laughed.

"Well guys I'm going to look at the rest of this place and then I'm off, but I'll be here bright and early tomorrow morning for training."

"Can't wait." Said Leah while she smiled at me.

Oh god I was down bad.
