"Merry Christmas!" Shouted Ella down the phone. It was Christmas Eve today and when I was at United Ella and I had a traditional Christmas movie marathon night, however since we couldn't do that we decided to Facetime instead.
"Aye, Merry Christmas Tooney." I giggled back.
"What have you been up to?" She asked with a smile on her face.
I sent a sad smile back, "Training, and I've been spending a lot of time with Leah. I miss you."
Ella's smile faltered. It was so weird to be away from each other for such a long time, we had spent basically everyday together when I was at Manchester. I had plans to go up and see her but my schedule had been so busy that I just hadn't had time.
"I miss you too. Don't get me wrong, it's great Facetiming you but it's not the same."
"I know." I mumbled back. "Anyway let's stop being all sad, did I tell you that Leah gave me a key to her house?" I continued, changing my frown to a smile.
"What!? No you didn't. When did this happen?" She exclaimed with the joy back in her eyes.
I laughed. "On my birthday, since you know, someone told everyone that it was my birthday."
She looked at me sheepishly. "Yeah, sorry about that."
"It's fine Ella."
She looked relieved and smiled. "So tell me the details on the key story."
I rolled my eyes sarcastically and nodded. "Well I spent the day with her family, we went bowling. Then Leah and I went to this drive in movie to see Home Alone, and when we were cuddling in her boot she got out a card and a little box. I got a bit nervous cause I thought she was proposing." She laughed. "Yeah it was really romantic." I rounded off my story.
"Wow, y/n. I've never seen you this happy."
I started to blush, so I put my head down to hide it. "Yeah." I mumbled.
Ella started to laugh before I interrupted her. "So...have you met anyone?" I asked with a smirk, my confidence suddenly coming back.
She stopped laughing and looked away, trying to avoid eye contact with me. My jaw dropped, "Oh my god, you have!" I exclaimed in excitement.
"Maybe."
"Well you have to tell me." I continued.
Ella groaned. "Just some guy I met at a bar." She reluctantly told me.
"Am I getting a name?" I asked. Ella wasn't the type of girl to pick a guy up at a bar and start dating him, so he must've been special.
She started laughing again. "No." She simply stated.
"No? You can't just tell me you're dating someone and not tell me who it is." I protested.
"I can and I have."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes. Ella and I stayed on Facetime for two more hours, deciding to watch a Christmas movie on Netflix. After we hung up I received a message on my phone.
Hey love, I'm outside xxx
I looked up in confusion. Leah wasn't meant to come round today, she had said that she was busy but that she would phone me tonight before coming round to my flat tomorrow after spending the day with her family. Leah had originally asked if I wanted to spend Christmas with her family, but I felt it was too soon so I declined.
I walked to the door and let her in. A couple of seconds later she walked through my door with a santa hat on. "Ho ho ho! Have you been a good girl this year?" She said as she walked through the door. I froze and began to howl with laughter.
