It was the day of the game against Everton and I was absolutely shitting myself. Leah and I had been talking a little over the phone and at training for the rest of the week, but nothing like what happened at her house. I had gotten the feeling that she was maybe trying to avoid me. I tried to organise something with her a couple of days ago but she never replied. We all walked onto the coach and took our seats. I sat at the front, trying to stop my travel sickness. Everyone was on already apart from Leah, who was talking to one on the physio's about her leg. When she eventually came onto the coach I moved my things off of the seat next to me to make room if she wanted to sit. Leah did not want to sit next to me. She made a show of avoiding eye contact with me and walked all the way to the back of the bus to find a seat.
The only seat left was the one next to me, and when she realised that she walked all the way back up and sighed. It felt like I wasn't getting anywhere with her, one day we would be close and borderline dating, and then the next she didn't want anything to do with me. I was getting fed up with it.
She slumped down on the seat and put her headphones on, which made it quite clear that she wasn't wanting to talk to me. "Really?" I mumbled to myself and turned over to look out the window.
I decided that I wasn't going to talk to her before the match, if she wanted to be that way with me I could do it back. I would check up on her afterwards, maybe then she would be in a better mood.
With a sigh I put my head on the window and shut my eyes. I was really anxious for this match and it annoyed me. I started to play my with my fingers and bite my lips.

The team were doing great, we were 3-1 up and there was only 15 minutes left. I was a little worried that I wasn't going to get subbed on at this point, until Jonas called me over and told me to start warming up.
I ran onto the pitch and smiled at Viv, "Go on y/n! You're gonna crush it!" She shouted at me. I grinned at her and gave her a high five. "Thank you." I shouted back.
I pushed forward with the team and tried to get myself into space. I knew that we were up by 2 but I wanted to make an impression and score. I held my hand up when I saw Viv cross the ball into the box. It was at the perfect height for a header.
I jumped up and my head made a connection with the ball. I felt a sharp thump on the side of the head and fell to the ground. That definitely wasn't the ball.
I rolled around on the pitch in pain, my eye was throbbing really bad. I heard the girls all run up to me to check that I was okay. "Shit y/n! Are you okay?" Beth shouted. I could hear someone else shouting. I tried to look up and I saw Leah arguing with the goalkeeper.
"What happened?" I asked with a groan. I sat up and removed my hand from my eye. I looked down and saw my hand covered in blood. I heard some of the girls take a sharp intake of breath.
"The goalie punched you in the face."
I looked up at Leah again and saw that two of the girls had gone over to separate her from the goalie before she got a yellow card. "You could've killed her, you idiot!" I heard her shout as she finally backed away.
She walked over to me and leant down so that she was on my level. She took my face in her hands and examined my eye. "You okay?" She asked with a clenched jaw.
I laughed, trying to lighten the mood, "Clearly not." She didn't seem to find it funny. "That could've been a lot worse y/l/n, this isn't funny." She replied, still looking at my eye. She went up to touch it but the medics were over at me so she got pushed back.
