"Y/n, please. I can see you're struggling." Leah begged as she picked the crutches that I dropped up off of the floor.

I shook my head and grunted as I put my head in my hands. "No. I won't have you picking up after me all the time." I replied. It had been a week since my accident and Leah had been spending more time at my house. This was the third time that I had almost fell while trying to do things about my flat and it was starting to frustrate me.

"Just let me help you!" She shouted.

The house descended into silence with the only noise being Leah breathing heavily.

She sighed and shook her head. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have shouted."

"It's fine."

Leah came over and sat down next me, with a sigh she took my hand in hers and gave it a light squeeze. "I just care about you. I don't want to see you to get hurt again." She explained.

I nodded and rested my head on her shoulder. "I know." I replied, stopping to take a breath. "I care about you too and that's why I can't move in with you." At this Leah let go of my hand and moved further to the side, forcing my head off her shoulder. She turned to me and gave me an insulted look.

"What the hell is that meant to mean?"

Immediately I regretted how my words came out, I hadn't meant it in a nasty way at all. I tried to explain this to her. "No Leah that's not what I meant. I just don't want you to take up all your free time worrying about me." I explained with a calming voice in an attempt to ease the damage I had done with my previous statement.

This seemed to work as I saw her relax slightly. "I worry about you anyway, I'd rather do it with you under the same roof." She replied. Leah was determined but I was stubborn and I wasn't going to change my mind this easily, I think Leah knew this as her face began to deflate the longer I didn't respond.

"I can't." I exclaimed with a pained look on my face. She stood up with a shake of her head and grabbed her phone.

"I've got to go." She mumbled out as she walked away to leave the room.

My eyes widened as I heard her words. "What? Where are you going?" I questioned in panic that I had really upset her.

"I'm getting lunch with my mum. I'll talk to you later." She replied before walking out of the room and out of my flat. If I wasn't injured I would've followed her.

With a defeated sigh, I leant back into the couch and let out a groan, wishing that Leah would just drop the whole thing.

The rest of the day was spent watching romcoms and eating away my feelings until I felt my phone start to buzz from next to me. My heart fell to my stomach as Amanda's name flashed up on my phone. Leah's mum was phoning me.

"What the fuck." I whispered to myself as I shook my head before pressing answer. I felt nauseous, Leah's mum was lovely but she still scared the shit out of me.

"Hello?" I said quickly as I lifted the phone up to my ear.

"Hi y/n. How are you?" Amanda almost instantly replied. My confusion grew, had she just phoned to have a normal conversation? I furrowed my eyebrows as I replied. "Yeah I'm alright. You?" I asked, still slightly dazed from the initial shock.

"Great, I'm fine."

I coughed slightly and looked awkwardly around my living room as I thought about what I was going to say. "Not to sound rude or anything, but is everything okay?" I cautiously asked to make sure that I didn't offend my girlfriend's mother.
