Billy Black had invited us over for dinner to catch up with my dad. I was excited to see Jake again, it's been awhile since we had really hung out. I had been avoiding the boys since that rumor got out that I slept with them all. I feel bad for ignoring their calls, but I was so embarrassed. I didn't want them to think the rumors were true, that I was a slut.
Bella went off to port angeles with her friends to go dress shopping. So, she told our dad. He has had her on a tight leash ever since a van that Tyler Crowley was driving almost crushed her. She barely had a scratch, but dad was very over protective.
Dad pulled into the small drive way that led to the Black's home. I spent many nights here as a kid before Jake's sisters went off on their own. Dad didn't like the idea of Jake and I sharing a room anymore.
"Let's go Mags," Dad says as he shuts the door of his cruiser behind him. I follow his lead and walk behind him into the small house.
"There's my favorite Swan!" Jake says to me as he pulls me into a bear hug.
"Hey Jake," I reply, hugging him back just as tight. I really did miss him.
"How have you guys been? Bella feeling okay?" Billy wheels himself up to the group.
"Oh she's just fine, you know she is. tough as nails, that one," My dad answers, punching Billy's arm lightly. "Now time for some football!"
After we finish up with dinner, Jake drags me out to the garage where he's been working on who knows what. I'm not good with car stuff so even if he tells me, I won't understand it.
"I've really missed having you here," Jake says softly, grabbing a tool and taking a seat in front of a bike.
"I've missed you too, all of you," I answer him, sitting next to him.
"Embry really misses you," He mumbles to me.
"Embry?" my heart quickens at his name. I've always adored Embry, he was my favorite out of the guys as he has no idea who his dad is and I have no idea who my mom is. We bonded over that and it quickly made us grow close together.
"yeah, he doesn't understand why you kissed Paul. honestly, I don't either," Jake looks up from his bike to wait for my answer.
"I just wanted to get my first kiss over with. Then when Mike told everyone that I slept with most of you, I just got so embarrassed. I didn't want you guys to start believing that I was a slut," I admitted.
"We never thought you were a slut, Maggie. We all miss you so much and hate that you were going through that alone. We just wanted to be there for you," Jake puts his arm around my shoulders and I lean against him.
"I'm sorry," I say, looking down at my lap.
"You don't have to apologize, just give me a favor and call Embry, okay? I'm tired of hearing how much he misses his best gal," He grins placing a kiss on the side of my head.
I nod in agreement, I'll call Embry once I get home.
-later at the Swan home-
I meant that I was going to call Embry as soon as I got home, but Bella was on the phone once I reached the kitchen. Luckily, her conversation was rushed. She was acting even weirder than usual, I'll have to ask about that later.
I took a deep breath and dialed Embry's number. It rang a few times before a familiar voice answers with a "hello"
"Hi Embry, It's Maggie. You know, Magnolia Swan," my words come out rushed and nervous.
"I do know, Mags. I've missed your voice so much. Are you doing okay?"
"Yes, i'm doing okay. I've missed your voice, but I miss your face even more," I say before I realized how dumb that sounded. I mentally face palm myself.
His laugh comes through the phone and brings a smile to my face, "I miss your face too, maybe we can hang out this weekend?"
"That sounds great, my place?" I ask him. We always hung out here as he wanted to be away from his mom as much as possible.
"Sounds like a date. Bye, Mags," He ends the phone call before I could say goodbye back to him.
A date? Did I want this to be a date? Of course I did, but he probably didn't even mean it like that. Deep breathes, Maggie. You've liked this boy since you even learned what liking boys meant.
I rush up the stairs, saying goodnight to Dad on the way.
"Hey Bella?" I knock on her bedroom door a couple of times. I could hear her typing on her laptop.
"Not now, Maggie. I'm in the middle of something," she calls back to me.
I groan and go to my room. I lay back onto my bed and wish I knew Rosalie's number so I could ask her for advice. I guess it'll have to wait until the morning. Hopefully my anxiety will let me get some sleep.
