Volturi

I don't go far when I hunt. I prefer to be close in case Sammy needs me. I'm currently sitting on a cliff after I finished off a deer. It wasn't much but it will hold me over for a week or so. I've been feeding less and less so I'm trying to work on getting better at it.

I stare out beyond the water. The sun is setting earlier as the weather gets colder. One of my favorite things about becoming a vampire is how I can stay out in the cold for eternity if i wanted to. As a human, I never lasted in the cold for long. No matter how much I loved it.

I can hear newcomers moving towards me as I move from my sitting position to face them. Four faces hidden under robes.

"Maggie Swan," A feminine voice calls to me.

"Jane," I answer, recognizing the vampires in front of me.

The volturi aka Aro's minions Jane, Alec, Demetri, and Felix. Carlisle spoke to me of them when I asked about a picture in his office. Bella and Edward filled me in with the trip to Rome as well.

"Aro wishes to see you at once."

"Why me?" I wonder.

"Your guess is just as good as ours," Felix answers.

"What if I refuse?" I challenge.

"We will personally drag you ourselves," Demetri answers with a wicked smirk.

It is clear that I don't have a choice in the matter. I can only hope that Alice has a vision. I don't want to risk my family trying to fight this nor do I want Sammy to lose me.

"That won't be necessary," I tell them, nodding to them to lead the way.

The trip to Rome was brutal and not what I have ever experienced before. The Volturi did not take planes or cars, it was all on foot. We had to swim in the ocean and all. It turns out, I enjoy swimming as a vampire but not when it involves traveling somewhere against my will.

The home of the Volturi was stunning. It's clear it has been around for centuries as it is sculpted so beautiful. They don't make buildings like this anymore. I'm faced with the red eyes of Aro, Cauis, and Marcus.

"Young Magnolia Swan, the sister of Isabella Cullen," Aro's evil voice spoke to me with such softness it was frightening.

Embry's Pov

I finally have an evening off from patrol which means I get to spend it with Sammy. I convinced Maggie to go hunt since it had been awhile. She's been so hesitant to leave Sammy since the thing with Paul happened. I completely understand but Im her dad, I think I can protect her. Well, I couldn't even protect my imprint. Maybe I can't protect my family the way I thought I could.

Sammy begged to watch Spongebob together so that's what we are doing. She's cuddled up against my chest with her little bunny tight in her arms. Her light hair was perfectly braided thanks to Maggie.

"When will mummy be back?" Her soft voice asks.

"It should be soon, she's just hanging with your auntie," I tell her.

"I want to hang out with Nessie," She begins to pout.

"You don't want to hang out with me?" I ask, pouting right back.

"Of course I do!" She quickly changes her answer and presses a kiss to my cheek.

"That's my girl," I grin, tickling her stomach gently as she laughs.

"You're so silly, daddy."

"You are the silliest girl."

I can hear Alice coming towards the house. She has such graceful movement as all the Cullens do that I managed to learn the difference between them and other vampires just based on that.
