When we arrived home, there were so many red eyes. Embry has barely left my side, worried that he'd shift out of habit. He doesn't want to ruin any of Esme's furniture. We haven't allowed Sammy over here. I don't know if I can trust these strangers but the others seem to think so.
I'm sitting in the living room across from Denali Coven. They are the only group I'm comfortable with and Embry feels the most calm with.
"We'd love to meet Sammy soon," Carmen says, smiling at us.
"Oh, I don't know," Embry says, looking at me.
"We'll have to arrange for you to stop by. We aren't quite comfortable having her here," I explain to them.
"Of course not. There's too many red eyes here," Garrett winks at me.
Embry grips my hand when he sees the wink that comes from another man which causes me to roll my eyes. I'm literally married to this man and he's jealous.
"You have a protective one here," Garrett says, chuckling.
"Don't anger the wolf," Kate warns Garrett.
"No, don't anger his wife. Haven't you heard what she did to Jane?" Eleazar asks him.
"Wait, you're the vampire that killed Aro's precious Jane?" Garrett asks, clearly impressed with me.
I nod, "Yeah, I burned her to ashes with just my hand."
"That's impressive as hell. Was that your first time using your gift?" Garrett asks.
"Yes and I haven't used it since," I tell him.
"I wonder if your gift is similar to Benji's," Eleazar says.
I shrug, "I haven't really played around with it."
"Isn't my wife hot as hell, though? Fire comes from her hand!" Embry says, throwing his arm around my shoulders.
"You're such a dork," I giggle at his excitement.
"I'm not a dork, I'm just in love," He says, winking at me.
"Same difference!" Jake yells from the other room.
Nessie runs over to us as soon as she realizes Embry is here, "Emmy!"
"Hey, Nessie," He says, opening his arms for her to jump into.
She gets comfortable on his lap and places her small hand on his cheek.
"You can hang out with Sammy soon, she's just spending time with your grandpa," Embry tells her.
Another moment passes and Embry answers, "go ask your mom."
Nessie nods and gets off of his lap to skip over to Bella.
"She wants to go to my dad's?" I ask him.
He nods in response, "of course. Grandpa Charlie is the bomb."
I laugh at him, "I'm sure he'll love that his new name is catching on."
"Oh, definitely."
Embry and Jake decided to escape the red eyes and take Nessie to Charlie's. I took the opportunity to spend time with Remington. We haven't spent time together in a long time.
Rem and I race each other through the woods. He's definitely faster than I am but I still somehow managed to get in front of him. He immediately stops which causes me to stop when we come across a bear and her cubs.
"Do you think she'll let us play with them?" I ask, wanting to hold the small brown cubs.
"You could try?" Rem suggests in more of a question.
I slowly make my way towards her to show I'm not a threat. She growls at me but doesn't lunge. I manage to pick up her cub without her attacking me. The baby cub curls up against my chest.
"He is so cute!" Rem says, coming to me and petting the creature.
"Do you think Em would let me keep one?" I ask.
He laughs, "I definitely feel like he'd rather have a baby wolf."
"He is the baby wolf," I say, rolling my eyes.
"I'm gonna tell him you said that!" He says.
"I'll tell Bree that you tried to bring home a baby cub!" I threaten right back.
"You know she'll get pissed at me! I've been telling her no to a dog for months!" He says dramatically.
"Well, don't be a tattletale," I say with a smirk.
"You're mean," He huffs, focusing his attention back on the cub.
We both sit on the ground to play with the cub which causes the other one to come out from its hiding spot. The momma bear watches from a short distance but never engages with us.
"I wish we didn't need blood. I feel bad feeding on animals too," I say, sighing.
"I think we'd starve if we didn't at least drink the animals," Rem states.
"Yeah yeah," I say, playing with the cub again.
"What's your least favorite animal?" He asks me.
"Sharks scare the hell out of me," I tell him.
"Is there blood in sharks?" He questions.
"Duh," I answer, flicking him in his head.
"You could make a trip to the ocean," He suggests.
"That sounds terrifying!" I gasp.
"It's not like it's going to kill you," He says, laughing at me.
"Doesn't matter! There is no way in hell I'm going after some damn sharks," I state.
He rolls his eyes, "you're such a baby."
I give the baby cub back to it's mother and begin running back towards the Cullens home. There was no way I was going to continue to sit there and talk about sharks.
I spot Emmett and run directly towards him. He has his arms out to stop me from running straight into him as I have a habit of doing.
"What can I do for you, Mags?" He asks.
"I seen a baby bear and it reminded me of you," I tease him.
He laughs, "because I was attacked by one?"
"Because you are one," I state the obvious.
"Right, of course," He agrees.
"Did you know Magnolia is afraid of sharks?" Rem asks from behind me.
"You're a vampire, why are you afraid of them?" Emmett asks with an amused expression.
"They can eat me in like one bite," I state.
"It's not going to kill you," Emmett points out.
"Fine, maybe you can help me face my fear the way you did," I suggest.
"Deal," He nods.
