Verena stood in her chambers with all of her children feeding Vaella,
feeling exhausted from all the commotion but also trying to get her children ready for dinner with everyone.

Daemon walked in seeing her trying to juggle feeding their daughter and dressing their children.

"My love,
Where are the handmaids?"

She looked up and rolled her eyes,

"I don't need any help.
I haven't seen them all day.
I missed them."

Daemon just chuckled lifting up his hands in defeat before kissing her forehead and joining to help their children.
Verena glanced at Daemon before speaking,

"I know this dinner will probably be insufferable.
But my husband,
please be on your best behaviour."

Daemon nodded and spoke,

"If they offend my family.
I will act."

Verena glared at him before he lent down and kissed her softly and said,

"Of course, my love.
As you ask."

She could not stay angry and he kissed her one more time before they went to finish getting ready.

Verena sat next to Daemon, Maelor and Athena,
the rest of their children stayed in bed.

Awkward tension wafted into the air.
Viserys was wheeled into the room looking worse than wear.
He sat down in between Rhaenyra and Alicent who kept their eyes away from each other.
Verena sat watching Alicent intently before moving closer to her oldest son.
Viserys opened the dinner by speaking through jagged breaths,

"How good it is... to see you all tonight... together."

Alicent smiled slightly before asking,

"Prayer before we begin?"

Verena fought back an eye roll.
She did not believe in prayer.
She believed in dreams yes,
but the idea that the gods would listen baffled her.
When she was younger she loved the idea of praying but as she grew older and wiser
Verena realised prayer never saved her.
Action and the people she loves does.
Viserys spoke smiling at his wife,

"Yes."

"May the Mother smile down on this gathering with love.
May the Smith mend the bonds that have been broken for far too long.
And to Vaemond Velaryon,
may the gods give him rest."
