The night was warm yet breezy. Herin sat on the couch, watching tv as Taewon made dinner. He kept glancing at her, feeling uneasy because of Saewoo's words that still lingered on his mind. He questioned himself several times, was his responsibility slipping into something Herin despised? He swiftly shook away those thoughts.
"When is it gonna be done? I'm hungry." Herin yawned.
"Just a minute" he smiled.
"Also...I'm invited to a party on Saturday, and I'm going with Saewoo." Taewon halted his movements. His eyes boring onto her sleepy figure. Herin didn't even look at him when talking, fixating her eyes on the glowing tv screen in front of her. He clenched the spatula in his hand, trying to focus on the spaghetti that he was making. "R-Really? sounds fun.."
She took a glimpse of Taewon who was setting up the table, his features were relaxed, showing no signs of disapproval. "You're...fine with it, right?" She asked hesitantly.
"Of course I am! You're all grown up now so who am I to question you?" the irritance was clear in his voice yet, Herin looked down at her lap and scoffed. "Sure." The air was tense between the two.
He gave a fake smile and gestured her to the table. "Come, dinners ready."
---
"So I was thinking of getting this really pretty red dress for the party, It's so cute! You should come over and see-"
Saewoo stopped going on her rant when she noticed how Herin wasn't really paying attention to her words, rather focusing on Renjun who was busy sketching in the corner of the room.
Saewoo rolled her eyes and smirked. "I see you're looking at someone a bit too much lately.." She teasingly elbowed Herin.
Herin shook her head in denial "No! its not...what you think.." A soft blush appeared on her cheeks as she walked away from the room, dragging Saewoo alongside to make sure she doesn't say anything out loud.
The echo's of their laugh sounded through the empty hall way as they stumbled on each other, their convo had just diverted to Herin maybe openly admitting a little endearment of hers for Renjun. Saewoo held her stomach while catching her breath. "I cant believe this right now." she rested her head on the wall behind, staring above. "You're into actual bad boys."
"Not really.." Herin followed her actions and looking above, the plain ceiling suddenly looked interesting. "I just..kept thinking how much of a great person he'd be if it wasn't for..you know..." She trailed off on her words, hinting the rebellious nature of him and his friends. Saewoo chuckled, "You'll get used to it i guess" She teased further as Herin groaned slightly and cracked a laugh, "Its just a small crush woo!"
"Sure~" They walked alongside to the next class, conversing about the party.
---
Renjun stood outside, leaning against his bike under the blazing sun. He was occupied on his phone, not noticing Herin walk towards him.
"Um, Renjun?"
Hearing her voice, he snapped his head up, not knowing how delighted he was when he saw her smiling while the warm air blew her hair softly.
Unexpectedly, He gave a kind look, "Yea?''
Herin grinned, "I'm coming to that party of your friend's." He nodded, "Good to hear." She chuckled, "oh? so you really did want me to come, hm?" She squint her eyes, humming in a jolly tone in an attempt to annoy him in a playful manner. He stood straight and took a step closer to her, looking down, staring into her eyes. "Yes. Yes, i did."
Herin gulped, her playfulness being thrown right out of her. Her cheeks heated up as her eyes followed anything other than his. Their closeness bringing more warmth to her body than the flaming sun that shone above them. "Why, is that a problem?'' He questioned as his brows furrowed sensing her nervousness.
She stuttered, "N-No!" A small cackle escaped her lips, she looked at him. "It's definitely not a problem..." Her voice turned low and soft, turning into a whisper the more she looked at him. The two looked into each others eyes, not caring about their environment as the two were enough for each other to be engrossed in.
"How are you going home?" His voice turned low and quiet too. He didn't know exactly why, but he wanted to drop her off, he wanted her to ride behind him on his bike, clutching his jacket with her fists.
"My brother's coming to pick me up" Renjun's mind averted to the guy he saw in the car waiting for Herin yesterday. "Oh." He nodded. "He doesn't want me around you, doesn't he?"
Herin looked away, her gaze narrowing as she sighed. "I told him you're a good friend so It's nothing, don't worry" She gave him a reassuring smile and he gulped, quickly looking away from that pretty smile of hers. He scoffed, "Who said i was worried" She laughed at him.
Renjun got on his bike and grabbed his helmet, placing it on the fuel tank space while giving her a small glare, "Quit laughing" Herin cackled again as the smile never left her lips. He was about to turn the bike on when suddenly she placed her left hand on his, "Can you..pick me up on Saturday? For the party?" Her eyes blinked at him, anticipating.
Renjuns mouth fell apart slowly, his heart beat sped up as he gazed upon her. Her touch left him frozen on spot, he had never been speechless in front of someone in a scenario like this. His mind turned blank and he cleared his throat, trying to collect himself as he couldn't believe he was folding under a small touch of hers. "Yea I can" He straightened up and gulped for the nth time, "what time?"
Herin smiled, "What time are you going?"
"Around seven or eight, should I pick you up at seven thirty?" He asked while licking away his dry, anxious lips. Herin nodded in serene excitement. "Sure, I'd like that" He mentally let out a sigh and watched her bid him away as she strolled away to Saewoo.
A small smile curved up on his face as he watched her walk away. He groaned, rolling his eyes back and thinking to himself, Oh god darling.
And I'm back after a Blackpink hiatus : )
