Chapter 12

I look down in at phone in shock that I honestly just done that, am I really going to start travelling the world with someone I just met? Am I ready for this? The stuff Lando said earlier is running through my mind and I can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed about the entire situation, I've never had a boyfriend before nor even talking properly to one, the most I talked to a boy was probably when me and my friends when we went out years ago but that all stopped once I moved to London with my family and since moving back here I felt that I didn't have the time for all that nonsense. The butterflies fill my stomach when I think of the thought of me and Lando getting closer and possibly becoming something special, but it scares me at the same time. I've always been somewhat of a private person, I post on my instagram quite often but I rarely give much away about myself and if I were to get close to Lando, there would be constant interviewers wanting to know about me and that's not even mentioning his fans, look at how some of them reacted when all he did was comment on my post.  I can hear my dad mentally cheering me on for actually doing something different and outgoing with my life, he always told me when I younger to do what makes me happy and to make my life as thrilling as I possibly could so therefore I won't look back and have any regrets. I'm pulled from the thoughts as the door swings open "Hi, thought I would come check up on you. You've been in here for a while now, you all good?" I look at him and notice that he's now wearing his racesuit, have I really been standing in this room for this long letting these thoughts intoxicate my mind "Oh yeah, I'm fine. It surprisingly went well and he wished me the best, so that's it" He removes the bracelets that compliment his wrist "Will you wear these for me while I go out, not allowed to wear them" Before I even answer Lando softly grabs my wrist and slips the bracelets on "So, practice is starting now if you want to go out and watch it, I've told my trainer Jon to keep you company, he's one of the guys staying at the hotel so hopefully you won't feel isolated. He'll be able to tell you everything going on if you don't really understand" I nod my head as he zips up his suit, only then do I notice how good he looks with it wrapped around his waist "After this, I'm taking you out for something to eat at this restaurant and there we can talk about where we're going to go" The silence fills the room once more and I can hear the loud engine of one of the cars roar "I'm glad we're doing this Sofia, it will be fun... Also I heard Ted wants to interview you properly by yourself, if you want to do it. I will be next to you but it would be a good chance to get your image out there. Let Jon know and he will arrange it for afterwards, but I need to go now, are you coming?" I look him up and down once more and see the serious face on him "Do you always take practice so seriously" I sarcastically ask as he pulls the door open and holds it for me "Silly question" He blurts out followed by a quick laugh "I'm only joking, I take it somewhat serious. It helps me to get to know the track and the team gets data on the car which could help us for the race, it's super fun getting to drive the car but once all the technical stuff comes into play, it gets super boring, it would nearly make me fall asleep at the wheel. Today is mainly just getting data from the car so it will be somewhat fun" The sudden burst of noise alerts me to the fact that we're back in the garage, it's a lot more crowded now as I watch the engineers handle things around  the car "Alright, I really need to get going so I'll talk to you after, Jon will give you a headset where you can listen in to everything said between me and the main engineer. Hope you have fun watching Sofia" He gives me a quick hug before jogging off and throwing his helmet followed up by jumping into the car and zooming off once he's been given the all clear to do so. 

"Hey, you must be Sofia? I'm Jon. I've been told that I basically have to take care of you and make sure you aren't lonely" I look at the man standing in front of me whose holding a headset whilst wearing one himself "Oh yeah, here you go. Lando told me to give this to you, so it's finally nice to properly meet you. I probably shouldn't say anything but honestly Lando hasn't really shut up about you since he first saw you the other night, I would say don't tell I told you but basically my job is to embarrass him and he can't say anything after making me go through the hassle of getting you a pass for here, it's hard to get one of them never mind when he leaves it so last minute." During the session Jon explains everything to me and doesn't seem to get annoyed when I can't understand what's going on, he proceeds to tell me that he's known Lando since he was teenager and all the embarrassing stories that come along with that, I basically laugh the whole time that Jon replays the events of one of the stories. After a while we just stand in comfortable silence as we watch on the screen as Lando drives through the track, every now and again the headset is full of a voice telling Lando to do different strategies to see how that works for them and in response Lando gives a cheeky answer back or says something sarcastic "He's always been that way, can rarely give a serious answer. The other man you hear speaking is Will, he's Lando's engineer. He sits over there" Jon points outside of the garage to a pitwall directly opposite the garage "He sits there and watches all the data so then he'll be able to tell Lando the correct strategy, over there as well is Zak Brown, he's the boss man as we all call him and then Andreas Seidl, the team principal. Lando will more than likely introduce you to them at some point" I avert my gaze back onto the screen as a 10 minute left reminder pops up, there's only a couple drivers left out now "You can come in now Lando, we've gotten enough data for today. That was good stuff on your behalf" Will's voice fills the headset once more and once I see Jon take off his headset I copy his movement.
