Chapter 13

"So I've heard that Ted wants to interview you personally, he does that sometimes. If you don't want to do it, that's alright but I need to know now so I can pass on the answer to him. Ted doesn't like to wait around" Jon swipes open his phone and begins to text away on it whilst Lando's words earlier jog through my mind, it would be a good opportunity for me and to see what could potentially happen "Yeah, I'll do it. What could go wrong" Jon looks up from his phone and then begins to frantically text again "Great, so I'll just get you a media person, they will just basically give you the ins and outs of what not to say in an interview" As Jon begins to walk away Lando's car comes slowly into the pit lane and stops at his designated spot before the engineers push the car back inside the garage, Lando hops out and rips his helmet off, he looks over at me and gives a smile before walking over to the man sitting with the multiple screens in front of him. It wasn't long before Lando had gotten told all the data from the session and he was standing beside me "So, Jon told me you decided to do the interview with Ted? Have you talked to Charlotte yet?" He unzips his suit and wraps it around his waist "Um, no I haven't met Charlotte yet? Should I have?" Lando shrugs his shoulders "She's probably back at the motorhome, she's my media person so I just guessed that she could help you" With that he begins to walk off and I stand on 'Are you coming? We're going to find Charlotte, Jon said your interview is in like 30 minutes?" Why did I not get told this information, I speedily walk after him and we're back at the motorhome where Lando pushes the door open, a couple people are sitting round the giant table in the lobby "Hi Charlotte, could you follow me please?" A blonde haired woman jumps up from the table with a massive smile on her face, we walk back up the stairs to see that the table outside Lando's room is empty, he takes a seat, both I and Charlotte take a seat, her sitting directly opposite him and me directly beside him "So Charlotte, this is my friend Sofia. When we arrived earlier we got stopped outside here by Ted and we found out a while ago that Ted wants to interview Sofia by herself" Charlotte nods her head and her hair weaves up and down "Obviously Sofia has never been in this type of situation and I was hoping you could talk to her all about interviews and how to handle them if you're free" Charlotte grabs a notebook that was sitting up further on the table "Sofia, it's lovely to meet you. I'm Charlotte first of" She reaches her hand across the table almost having to stand up, I politely shake her hand back "So with interviews, especially Ted's, he will get quite personal about your life. It's completely up to yourself whether you want to go into all that detail, you can however just give quick short answers that explain enough about yourself" Lando hops up from the table and goes into his room quickly closing the door behind him "You will more than likely get asked about your relationship to Lando, all the reporters here will feed on that since you're the only female Lando has ever brought to a race weekend expect his family members. If the questions get too much, you're allowed to say that, you don't have to stay and answer questions that you don't feel comfortable answering, I will come down to the interview with you and I'll stand over at the side. Obviously no cursing or downgrading anyone else. Just the main thing here is to enjoy yourself and don't think too hard about the answers to the questions, I really think that's everything, anything else and I'll be sure to tell you. Do you know where and when the interview is" I check the time on my phone "Jon told Lando it was in 20 minutes and I'm not too sure where it is" Suddenly the door of Lando's room is pulled open "It's actually in 10 minutes, you're quite bad with your time management Sofia, and it's just outside the motorhome." Charlotte rushes up off her seat "We should go down now, it will look bad if we're late" She speedily walks down the stairs as I look at Lando who has now gotten changed into a pair of black jeans and a hoodie "She's so odd, how can you be late to something right outside?" He laughs and gestures me to walk down the stairs before him as I push my seat back "Do you think you're ready to get interviewed?" His breath hits the back of my neck and a shudder goes down my back "I guess we will find out shortly" He scoffs as we reach the bottom of the stairs and see Charlotte running around gathering things up "You'll do great, don't even stress it Sofia" Charlotte looks towards us with widened eyes "Come on! Hurry up" Lando lets out a quick laugh as we walk outside to the fresh air.

When we walk out, I notice  3 seats sitting with Ted already sitting on one, the camera was facing so it got the seats and the motorhome in the background, they had already sectioned it off so no one could walk through and disrupt the interview "Hi guys, welcome! Sofia, what's your last name, I didn't quite catch it earlier" Ted bellows loudly "Sofia De Rossi" Ted smiles and takes out a small notepad and quickly jolts something down "I know I asked for an interview with Sofia herself but I thought I would invite you too Lando so that's why there's 3 seats, it would be a pleasure if you joined us and also thanks Sofia for taking the interview" Lando nods his head before taking the chair on the left leaving the middle one for me "Come on Sofia, take a seat and let's get this started... Is the camera all good?" The cameraman sticks his thumb up and Ted quickly takes a sip of his water, the cameraman then holds up 3 fingers...2 fingers...1 finger "Welcome back to Ted's notebook, today I have with me Lando Norris and his friend Sofia De Rossi, hope I'm saying that right!" Ted laughs at full volume "So Lando, I'll go to you first. Tell us how you and Sofia met." Lando glances over to Charlotte and she shows a bright grin "I arrived quite late in Italy and when I got to the hotel, Sofia was the receptionist there. She showed us to our rooms and was very pleasant to all of us. I had to get her to bring some water up to my room as I had ran out of it and she was kind enough to do it even though it was the early hours of the morning and I would say that she would have rather stayed at the desk instead of me pestering her but she did it with no time wasted." Lando looks at me and smiles "Sofia, apologies if this comes across weird but you're a stunning girl, what made you want to be a receptionist?" Ted stares at me hard as I can feel the camera beaming straight towards me, I quietly clear my throat "My dream was always to travel the world but unfortunately I couldn't do that. My family moved to London a couple years ago due to my dad getting offered a good job over there. Once I turned 18 I had told my family I was moving back here as I loved living here whilst younger and I was missing here so I packed up my stuff and moved back. My dad had texted his friend who owns the hotel that I was planning to come back so he offered me the job and I took it, I've worked there for 2 years now I think" The camera pans back to Ted "So you work at the hotel that most of the drivers stay at? You've never met any of them before? I feel like we would have seen you before if that was the case" I nibble at the inside of my mouth "No, so I always did night shift which would have meant that the day staff checked them in and dealt with everything regarding that. It was rare that I saw any of the drivers once I started my shift, I would always see people wearing the merchandise now that I'm here and see all the different teams" Ted takes another sip of his drink and stares at Lando "So Lando, this is the first female that you have ever brought to a race weekend, does this mean anything special?" I look over to Charlotte and see her quickly writing stuff down "It's very early to think like that Ted, we've only just met and at the minute we are just friends, who knows what the future holds for any of us? Hopefully there will be a positive outcome from this but I can't really give you a solid answer to that question currently" Ted ignores Lando's answer and stands up from his chair and walks towards the camera "That's all for today folks, hopefully I'll get the chance to interview Sofia and Lando together sometime soon" Ted says bye to us and quickly jogs on "Come on, time for dinner" Lando cheerfully says.
