Lando takes my hand in his as we walk along the gentle crashing of the waves on the beach, the air was warm but had a refreshing breeze to it, it was dark but I was surprised to see that we were the only ones on the beach, the moon followed us as we skipped along the water. Lando looked to be nervous as he kept looking behind us, my eyes would follow his every time but nothing was ever there, I put it down as maybe he was keeping an eye out for fans? Lando really only spoke about the qualifying today and how he was excited for the race tomorrow, a new season, a new chance for him. Plenty of people knew that Lando was world champion potential, he just needed the car to back him up on that one, the car this year looked dangerously fast but so did the Red Bull, everyone was somewhat shocked at the pre-season testing, they all knew the McLaren was capable of possibly 4th or 5th in the Constructor's but from what I've been reading online, people think Lando will be challenging Max this year for the world champion title. I don't even realise when we've stopped walking as I stare out to the ocean and feel Lando's eyes burning into the side of my head, he walks behind me and gently places both of his hands on my waist but swiftly turning me around, his head burrows into my neck as my eyes widen in amazement, in front of me lies a blanket with fake candles (of course, I don't think I could trust Lando with real candles) a bottle of wine and a cute little picnic basket which is more than likely full of goodies "What's this for?" Lando says nothing as he plops himself down onto the blanket and pats it, indicating for me to take a seat beside him. Once I'm seated Lando pours me a glass of wine and I mentally note to myself not to take it too hard tonight, I can't be embarrassing myself again, Lando pulls himself closer to me as he stares into my eyes, he pushes some of my hair behind my ear "I can't deny my feelings for you Sofia, these months without you have been draining. I know I've said it multiple times before but again I'm sorry for how I treated you... I want to treat you well, show you the world. I'd do anything for you" The crashing of the waves sound more frantic, the birds flying above our heads squawk and then suddenly everything becomes silent as I look back into his eyes "I know I'm rushing back into this but I don't want to be without you again... I've already spent a couple months without you and I was miserable during that time, I just need you in my life again... will you be mine again Sofia De Rossi?" It all comes out of his mouth with confidence drooling from his words, like he already knows the answer but still there's a hint of insecurity laced around his face, I wanted Lando as much as he wanted me but there was risks if I were to get back with him, I look down at Lando nervously messing around with his bracelets as he awaits for my answer. His words swirled around my mind, he regrets his actions with me and it was obvious that Lando was changing for the better, his actions were completely different such as on Saturday during practice 3, a couple hours before qualifying, his car absolutely shit itself, he was out on track and it just anti-stalled, old Lando would have been cursing down the radio about what a shit box he was driving, followed by a lot of offensive stuff if I were to repeat you would look at me as if I had 20 heads but on Saturday, Lando just told the team what he had felt during the car losing it's shit and then proceeded to tell the team that he'll help to get it fixed before qualifying, everyone was shocked by that one, usually he would lock himself in his driver's room until he was told he can drive the car again. He was still staring at me fidgeting with his jewellery, I knew I wanted to be with him but of course there was that small bit of anxiety holding me back until my mama's words came into my mind, I knew there must be something good about Lando if my mama told me to give him another chance "Yes" I barely get the words out before his lips crashed down onto mine.
I jump up and down as I scream with happiness after seeing and hearing the announcement that Lando had won the race, my heart pumped so hard in my chest that I thought it was going to explode, the whole team was ecstatic as they all hugged or fist bumped each other. They had all ran to the fence beside the checkered flag for Lando coming up to it, as he drove past at the high speed they all roared and fisted their arms into their air to show how proud they were of him, the crowd went wild, well most of them, obviously others weren't happy that their favourite driver didn't win. Lando drove into parc ferme and parked beside Max and Charles, he took his time on his victory lap, waving to all the fans and just taking it all in, I stood a bit behind the commotion as I wanted Lando to celebrate with his team, they deserved it, I really don't think any of us understand how much immense pressure the mechanics are under during a race so they deserved to get the credit, which was really Lando running to them and engaging in a massive group hug as camera's flashed in the direction, that would be a cute photo that Lando will more than likely cherish for the rest of his life. The mechanics all pat, well really they hit the top of Lando's helmet with some force as he makes his way down the line of them, thanking them all, he finally makes his way towards Zak who stands with a huge smile on his face, he roars Lando's name as Zak lifts Lando up and bear hugs him, even with the helmet on I can see that big goofy smile of Lando's as everyone praises him, it was definitely a good start to the season for Lando but already people are questioning whether he can keep this up for the rest of the season, if you ask me? He could keep this up for another 20 years to come, I believe in him as should everyone else. I sneak my own photo's of Lando being lifted into the air and practically thrown around like a teddy bear, his helmet is off at this point and he's actually being shouted at by someone from the FIA, he needs to be up in the cooldown room immediately as the podium celebration is soon to begin but the team won't set him down, too proud of him, it's only when the male stands in front of them with a stern look on his face and his hands on his hips, then the team set Lando onto the ground again and the male makes him follow him towards the podium, Lando's eyes meet mine as he walks away and a hint of sadness flashes through them as he mouths the words 'Sorry' I understand why he's doing it but he has no need, he felt bad that he didn't come towards me after his win but I would rather him celebrate with the team, we would have the chance to celebrate later. I stand beside the team as we all await for Lando to walk out and as he does we all scream so loud that I would bet on it, some of the mechanics along with Zak definitely won't have their voice tomorrow, Lando gets presented his trophy before spraying champagne all over Max and Charles as they do the same to him, they're all drenched by the time it's finished as I smile up to that dorky boy that I call mine.
