Chapter 45

It was now the weekend of the Brazil Grand Prix and as I watched the practice session on my laptop I could feel my eyes dropping on me, there was a big time difference between Singapore and Brazil so sleep was calling out for me and for some reason I was ignoring it, I didn't want to sleep, something was telling me not too. I set my laptop up onto the bedside table and turn the chair around fully so I can continue to watch. My gaze focuses into the orange McLaren with the number 4 on it as I see it's not the usual blue and yellow helmet poking out of it, I glance up at Lando once more as some colour has came back into the skin but still he's incredibly drained looking, the bruises have now faded, they leave a yellowish stain on his skin along with some cuts along with body, how he got them, no one knows, still no one knows how the crash ended up with him like this, his fans had made many conspiracy theories on their tik toks and then proceeded to send them to me, one being that he got knocked unconscious the first time he hit the wall and then when the car turned upside down, that's when the worst happened, I found myself in a deep hole on tik tok one night when I couldn't sleep watching them all trying to make sense of it myself. Cisca proceeded to facetime me everyday wanting to know how he was and if the doctors had told me anything, she had told me she wanted to book the first flight she could back to Singapore to be by his side but it wasn't possible, unfortunately her life had to go on which meant she had to be by Flo's side for all her showjumping competitions. Life had been incredibly lonely recently, I was only talking to people through the phone and it wasn't like the doctors or nurses could have a conversation with me about something other than Lando, they had a job to do, I do wish that I could have someone else here with me. Over the last couple of weeks I found myself getting very close with Yuki, he had texted me every single day to check up on me and I would easily say I can see a friendship blooming from it, he was so loving and caring, I had texted him good luck before all the grand prix's and I find myself supporting him, but that will all change once Lando is back on the grid, of course I would have to root for my boyfriend to win first and then Yuki will come second, not that me and Pierre texted much before hand but we had completely stopped texting each other, he had stopped texting to find out Lando was doing and I never texted to check up on him, I would find myself looking out for his car in the grand prix's but that was about it, it will definitely be awkward the next time I see him or I might just be overthinking it...

It's halfway into the Brazil race and of course Max is leading the race but Charles is getting dangerously close every single lap, Daniel was having an amazing race starting from P15 and currently he sits in P6 with Yuki in P11, there had been a safety car on lap 10 due to Latifi crashing into the wall which brought some drama to the race and made it that bit more entertaining to watch but apart from that so far it's been a boring race to watch, Max had been dominating the grid but Charles was managing to catch up to him but god knows how long that would last, I wouldn't be surprised if Ferrari fucked him over by deciding to pit him and put him on full wets even though there wasn't a cloud in the sky in Brazil. A couple more laps in and there was an intense battle between Max and Charles who continued to keep switching their positions back and forward and I find myself biting my nail at the anxiety from it, god knows how Charlotte and Kelly feel right now, the cars get so close to each other at every single corner and I'm shocked that they've managed to not hit each other yet, the fans are loving the battle as they roar every time Max and Charles drive past them, the atmosphere seems amazing and I can't help but feel upset that I'm not there, I would have loved to went to Brazil. The race was nearing the end and the positions had mostly stayed the same with nothing that interesting happening apart from the battle for P1, Max had came out on top from that as Ferrari decided to pit Charles in the middle of it, what did I say? I knew they would do something silly like that, I find myself giggling at the thought of me knowing a good amount about Formula one now and I only really have Lando to thank for that, he was probably sick of me asking millions of questions, it felt wrong to go to a Grand Prix and not really know anything about it so I had made him tell me all about it in the hotel, although watching plenty of tik toks about it has also helped me. The race had finally ended and the results were Max, Checo and then Charles, I do believe Charles deserved better, he was capable of snatching P1 from Max but unfortunately these things happen I suppose, he'll get his time soon enough. Max had stepped up to the interview and clearly some fans weren't too happy about him ending up in P1 as some boo's begin to fill the air, Max just smiles and continues to wave before turning around and beginning to answer the interviewer, I don't think I could ever be in his position, purely having people hate on him just based of the fact that he's been dominating the season so far, I say the fans would much rather Lewis be standing in Max's position right now saying he's a citizen of Brazil now, the camera zooms in on Lewis as he stands with a huge smile on his face waving out to the crowd, he finished in P4, I say he more than likely was disappointed in himself as he wanted to have a good finish at one of his home races but it seems as if it isn't bothering him as the camera lingers on him and he seems to be in good spirits. The interview was Max is still going on as the interviewer just continues to ask a good amount of questions about the race and how Max found it "Um, yeah the race for me was quite easy, it was a fun one for me today and um I just wanted to thanks Charles for the intense battle, I would have had a lonely race out front if it wasn't for that..." The interviewer laughs at his response as the camera zooms onto Charles in the background as he takes a sip from his bottle "Right Max, congratulations for today's race, some good points for yourself and the team. I'll be talking to you soon I would say" Max gives a smile before placing his hat back onto his messy hair "Not one to do this much but I'll do it for a good mate, this win was for Lando... hope you're doing ok buddy, can't wait until you're back on the grid along with us all" I smile as Max walks off from the camera and before Charles comes over for his interview the camera pans around to the interviewer "Some nice words there from Max. We also wanted to speak of Lando, it's been a quiet couple of weeks without him here on the grid and it's clear that he's missed but he has millions of people supporting him and he'll be back in no time. Hope to see you soon Lando" The interviewer gives a quick smile before turning around to start the interview with Charles "Huh... What?...."
