Adri entered the pub, knowing it wasn't open. She knew Jo would possibly be coming out with a rifle. But it's the fact she knew that made it so easy to block it and greet her with a hug.
"Mom, it's Adri!" Ellen wandered out the back with a smile planted on her face. The woman pulled Adri into a hug and laughed. They had been one of the families she'd stayed with when Bobby was on a hunt. Ellen had become like a second mother and Jo a sister.
"Not that I'm not glad to see ya kiddo but what are you doing here? Last I heard, you were taking down that voodoo thing with lover boy." Adri blushed at how she referred to Dean.
"His name's Dean, not lover boy. And we finished that last week. I came here because, well," Adri hesitated. She didn't know how to say this. "I need to find out what happened to my father. What really happened." Ellen's smile dropped. She looked sad as if she was watching a man plan his own funeral.
"Listen, plenty of hunters have tried to figure out what happened to your father. Bobby and," She paused, not wanting to say John's name. But Adri knew who she meant. " And plenty of other good hunters. You ought not to waste your time. Or your life." Ellen began to clean the bar.
"Ellen, a man came to Bobby's. He said he was Lee Jackson." Ellen paused. "Ellen, he looked like what I remember my daddy lookin' like. What if, what if he is?" Adri felt her eyes tear up. Jo came to stand with Adri.
"Adri, why don't we get you fresh clothes, a nice hot shower, and some sleep before we discuss this? Jo, would you help her please?" The girls nodded silently before leaving the bar room.
"Whowassthat?" They heard Ash slur. Jo smiled at Adri and picked out some clothes she could borrow, even though Adri already had her clothes, she didn't feel like grabbing them from the car.
"I'm glad you're here," Jo whispered. She gave Adi's shoulder a quick squeeze, then left the girl to shower.
After Adri slept through the night, she saw her new premonition. She woke with a start and called Sam.
"Sam? Sam?!" The phone finished dialing before he picked up.
"Hey, Adri, what's up?" His tone was cool and calm. He seemed a little tired but he was happy.
"Sam, you need to get back to Jess right now. As fast as you can, you need to go."
"What? Why? Did she call you?" Sam was shaky now and she could faintly hear Dean asking what was wrong.
"No, Sam it's one of those things. Remember? Please, just hurry back." She hung up after she heard Sam mutter to Dean 'go faster.'
She ran her hands through her hair, wondering if they'd get there in time. She really hoped so. Jess was a sweet girl. And Sam really loved her.
Adri got out of bed and ran to the car to get some clothes that she could wear for the day.
She grabbed her tablet and notebook beginning to go through the files she saved. She sat at the bar, waiting for the others to wake up.
She began looking for anything about disappearances. She supposed anything could have to do with that but then she went through the internet to search for newspaper clippings about Lee's disappearance. She was just about to get started when she heard the slam of a large file on the bar counter. She looked up to see Ellen and Jo with a hungover Ash.
"Ok, this is everything I have from your father's case. But let me be clear, you don't go after it alone, you don't go looking for trouble, you call me if you get anything new when investigating, and you stay here as much as you can. I won't lose you on a hunt that too many other hunters have died from. If you take this case and it gets too dangerous, you back off, you understand me?" Ellen spoke clearly with a tone that said 'don't disobey me' and Adri knew it.
"Yes ma'am." She saluted Ellen and all four of them laughed. Jo settled next to her, pulling things out of the file casing.
"Oh, and you can't take her." Jo's mouth dropped at her mother. Jo herself had just left college due to a lack of interest. She was a smart girl but she said she never fit in.
"Sorry Jo, you can help me put a profile together though." Adri offered sympathetically. "Man, and I was just getting a side job working in Sioux Falls." Jo looked towards Ellen who nodded.
"Mom said you can work here too if you want." Adri looked at the Harvelle women with such gratitude it radiated.
"Thank you, Thank you!" Ellen smiled.
"Jo will show you what you need to do but when you're working, you're working. You can't be working on the case." Adri nodded.
"Of course Ellen. Thank you so much!"
"No problem Kiddo. Now come on, you got work to do."
