Rose gave out a small sigh as the cool night air kissed her skin. She stepped out of Bag End. She promised Bilbo that she would come back as soon as possible, so she sprinted down the main road, searching for dwarves. Rose ran into a couple of hobbits, asking if they had seen anything suspicious. It took her a while, and after about an hour, Rose decided to head back so she would not worry him.
She walked up to Bad End. But something was weird. It was quiet...maybe the dwarves just came to the wrong house and left...she shrugged. The elf opened the door and walked through the hallway. But when she got to the dining room, she froze. The whole room was filled with dwarves; 13 to be exact.
Bilbo stomped up to Rose. "Hmph. I promise." She gave Bilbo a scared look. Rose, who was very, very shy, stood behind Bilbo as they walked towards the large group. Rose looked over to a old man wearing a grey cloak and hat. The man stood up. "Ah, Rose! I have been looking for you." He held out his arms and gave Rose a smile. She gasped in surprise and ran into his arms, giving him a tight hug.
"Mithrandir!" She kept hugging him, but held on tight and leaned close to his ear, which surprised the wizard a bit. "Who are these dwarves? What are they doing here?" Gandalf whispered back."Just keep listening."
Rose let go of Gandalf and hid behind him a bit. She took a deep breath and smiled at the group. "Rose, at your service. I am a Halfblood: Half man and half dwarf." Gandalf smiled at the group of dwarves, then to Rose. "Rose, my dear, meet Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dwalin, Balin, Oin, Gloin, Fili, and Kili." She looked at Fili and Kili. They both gave her smiles, and she turned away, hiding her red cheeks. Gandalf held a a hand towards the dwarf sitting in the end of the table. "Rose...meet Thorin Oakenshield. The leader of this group." The raven-haired dwarf stared at Rose, as if she had two heads. Rose stared back. Thorin Oakenshield? Rose recognized that name. She held out a hand. "Rose...at your service." Thorin shook her hand, looking very suspicious. "A woman?" He turned to Gandalf. "You never told me a woman was joining." Rose narrowed her eyes, offended by Thorin's remark. "Pardon me?" She growled. Gandalf shook his head. "Thorin, this is no ordinary woman. She said she was part dwarf, having the dwarvish strength. She is a experienced warrior and has fought in many wars." Thorin turned away from Rose and kept talking. "As I was saying..."
Rose listen to the conversation, observing every dwarf. Kili and Fili seemed so young and unafraid. They were young, much younger than Rose. She had caught Fili, the blonde one, staring at her. She got up and walked to her room. She sat down and just stared at the wall. Reclaiming Erebor? She miss the great hall and all the happy dwarves wandering about...
After a while, Rose decided to come out. As she walked out, a deep voice began to sing, and others joined in. She knew the words of the song, and murmured the lyrics to herself.Far over the misty mountains cold,
To dungeons deep, and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To find our long forgotten goldThe pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night
The fire was red, it flaming spread
The trees like torches blazed with lightShe looked to Bilbo, who was listening with great sorrow. She quietly walked to him and put a hand on his shoulder. He looked up. "I want to go. I want to sign the contract...but..." Bilbo frowned in frustration. "I really don't know what to do."
