As the group began to run, the wargs were catching up fast. But when they keep running, Rose stopped. She looks out, only to see a cliff. They were cornered. She couldn't jump; that would be suicide. As Rose quickly thought, an idea popped into her head.

The trees. Rose ran over to a tree and began to swiftly climb it. "Gandalf!" The wizard looked up and saw Rose climbing the trees. Good work, Rose. "Up into the trees, all of you! Come on, climb! Bilbo, climb!" Bilbo, who was close to being ripped apart by a warg, barely dodged the warg's jaws and was pulls up into the trees by Rose. As Rose looked out, the wargs began to circle the trees.

Then, something caught Rose's eyes. She looked out into the distance, and a pale orc riding a white warg was standing on top of a rock. Rose's face grew red with anger. "Azog..." She quickly notched her bow and aimed it at the pale orc's head. She snuck a look at Thorin, whose face was stricken with grief and anger.

Azog began to laugh. "Nuzdigid? Nuzdi gast?" [Do you smell it? The scent of fear?] "Ganzilig-i unarug obod nauzdanish, Torin undag Train-ob." [ I remember your father reeked of it, Thorin son of Thrain.] Thorin looked like he was about to go and rip off Azog's head. He realized that the pale orc had captured his father. "It cannot be..." He whispered.

At Azog's command, the wargs charged to the trees, jumping and shaking the trees. Rose took out her arrow and latched the bow to her belt. As the trees began to fall, Rose lost her footing. She slipped, and she felt two hands grab onto hers. She looked up, expecting Dwalin, or Fili. But it was Thorin. With a grunt, he pulled her up. She gave him a hmph and turned away from him. She furrowed her eyebrows and kept balance as the trees fell on each other, creating a domino effect. Rose swung herself onto the other tree and climbed down. When she got to the bottom, a warg jumped up, missing her by inches. When it jumped again, she stomped her foot into its head.

As Rose grabbed her bow and notched an arrow, Gandalf called her name. "Rose, catch!" Rose turned around and Gandalf threw a flaming pine cone at her. She quickly caught it and realized what she had to do. She aimed at one of the wargs and she threw the pine cone, the warg screeching. It was engulfed in flames, and Rose watched as the warg was being burned.

After the trees had all fallen and Thorin had gone out to kill the pale orc, Rose clung onto a branch for dear life. She looked down, and all she knew was that she was hanging over a very tall cliff which dropped down to a large forest of trees. Rose pried herself up, her hands becoming raw from grabbing onto the branches. "Bilbo?" Balin said. Rose looked up to see Bilbo take his sword and walk towards the wargs. Rose quickly pulled herself up and grabbed Bilbo's arm. "What are you doing?" She said blankly. "You are going to get killed." Bilbo pulled his arm away. "Thorin's out there! I have to save him." Rose watched Bilbo walk out to the flames, protecting Thorin. Rose wanted to go and kill Azog herself, but she was weak and she would not be able to block Azog's weapons. She watched in sadness as Thorin lay on the ground, to weak to move. Rose closed her eyes. She had no more strength in her; she will certainly fall.

But before Rose let go of the branch, Dori and Ori had fallen, only to be captured by the Eagles. She hurriedly looked at Thorin, who was being picked up by one of the eagles. What? Rose narrowed her eyes. The key...it's not on his neck. Rose looked around. She had enough time, if she hurried. Rose gave out an annoyed sigh. Here goes... She took a deep breath and sprinted out of the flaming trees. She grasped onto her bow and notched an arrow. She quickly but carefully began to search for the key. In a sudden, a Warg jumped out from behind a rock. Rose quickly turned around and shot the warg in the eye. She unsheathed her sword and stabbed the creature through the head. She pulled out her sword; then she saw it. The key. Rose noticed that all the dwarves had been picked up by the Eagles. I don't have enough time...She ran to the key, but an Eagle swooped down and picked Rose up. Quickly thinking, she took out an arrow and once the Eagle carried her past the location of the key, she leaned down far as she could and the curve of the arrowhead latched under the string attached to the key. The eagle dropped Rose and she fell on top of another eagle. She gave out a sigh of relief and tucked the key into her bag. She was surprised that she still had the bag.
