Fili looked up when he saw Thorin emerge from the darkness, pure anger gleaming in his eyes. "Uncle? What happened?" Thorin smirked and grabbed the map. "I took care of our elf." Fili looked at his brother, who gave him a concerned look. "You should go find Rose. She told Thorin...she could be hurt."The sound of light footsteps stirred Rose awake from her miserable sleep. "Rose?" Rose slowly turned her head, finding that Fili was leaning down above her. "What?" Sadness and sleepiness was weaved into her voice. Fili held out his hand. "Please sit up." She glumly grabbed the dwarf's hand and he pulled her up. He sat down next to her and stared at Rose. She was just staring out into the darkness, her face having the same expression of a doll.
Fili grabbed Rose's hand. "A-Are you okay? Did Thorin hurt you?" Rose narrowed her eyes a bit, still staring out into the darkness. "No. I am fine." Fili nodded and looked down. After a while of awkward silence, Fili looked back up. "Rose, I have been meaning to tell you this...I-I am...in love with you..." Rose turned her head, sadness glittering in her green eyes.
"Fili, I..." Her eyes began to fill with tears. Tears of sadness, anger, and confusion. Thinking of what possibly he could have done to make her cry, Fili held her hand in his even tighter. "Rose. Tell me what is happening! I need to know." Rose cried even harder and she tucked her head into his neck. "Fili..." she whispered. "I don't...I d-don't know...I am so confused." She lifted her head up. She wiped away her tears and looked down, her hair covering her face. "I am not even worthy of being admired. I am not like the other elves or dwarvish women. I feel hideous; I feel hated. " Fili felt a bit heartbroken at how she didn't know if she loved him or not. He sighed and put his thumb under her chin, lifting her head up. "Rose, stop hiding your beautiful face. You are worthy of being admired. It makes me feel so lucky to be here with you." Rose looked at Fili in the eyes, blushing a dangerous shade of red. "Fili, I do not know who I am in love with. It could be Thorin. It could be that...Legolas...It could be you. I can't decide." I need someone. Someone to take me through this misery. I need Fili. But then I need Legolas...I know what I have to do.
Rose kept staring at Fili. "I-Is something wrong, Rose?" He said nervously. In a flash, Rose stood up, pulled Fili up, leaned down, and placed her lips on Fili's. A small grunt of surprise escaped his lips, but he then tangled his hand into Rose's short brown hair and pulled her closer. They fought each other, tongue and all. Fili wished this moment could last forever. Rose's lips tasted sweet; like honey and berries. He ignored the salty taste of her tears, of course. Rose grabbed the back of his neck and slowly pulled away, leaving the both of them to catch their breath. She bent down and kissed Fili's head, receiving a blush from the shocked dwarf.
"Fili. I am not the one for you. But I need your comfort. To guide me through wanting to leave this cruel world. Please forgive me if I didn't return the feelings." Rose said blankly. Her eyebrows furrowed and her lips curved down to a frown. "I will just leave now..." She turned around and slowly walked to where the other dwarves were. Fili stood there, shocked but a bit happy. He knew she did not love him, but at least he could comfort her.
Rose walked, showing no emotions what so ever. She couldn't show them. She doesn't ever want to be happy; she never will be. As Rose slowly walked to the company, Bofur sprung up and ran towards Rose. "Lassie! Are you alright? Are you hurt?" He looked down and noticed a small gash on her neck. "Rose." He pointed at her cut. "Did Thorin do this to you? Tell me!" Rose just looked at him. "Nothing. I am fine. Leave me be." She turned away and made her way to her room.
Rose pushed open the door to her room and slammed it. She gave out an angry yell and punched the wall as hard as she could. She yelled even louder and pulled out her sword, thrashing at a small stool that was placed next to the bed. Rose sighed loudly and fell onto the bed. Why could you do this, Thorin Oakenshield? I hate you, I hate you! When Rose felt something leathery on her hand, she lifted her head up. On the foot of the bed was all her clothes, clean and ready to fight in.
