*If you guys don't understand anything about Rose and her being really depressed, then please read this. Rose has had a mournful life; her father was brutally murdered in front of her, her mother broke a promise and died, and Aethonir also died as well. Her whole family was dead. She had no more family. She had been fighting those emotions her whole life, and since Thorin had told her that she was useless and unimportant, Rose took those in a hard way. She was also confused; she was in love with Legolas and still is, but she also met Thorin and Fili, who both loved her. She couldn't decide; she didn't know how to decide, and she didn't want to break both of their hearts.
Rose's eyes widened as Thorin laid his lips upon hers. She was surprised. Everything around her froze, as if she stopped time. She closed her eyes, sinking into the kiss. One last tear slid down her cheek as Rose grasped Thorin's leather tunic and pulled him closer. She had yearned for this moment for a long time.
Rose pulled away, staring into the dwarf's blue eyes. She didn't know what to do or say. Was this the old Thorin; the old Thorin Oakenshield? "Th-Thorin?" She stuttered, looking down to the cold ground. "I'm sorry, but I can't-" Thorin laid his index finger on Rose's lips. "I know you are in love with an elf. But I love you, and nothing can make me stop." He said with a smile. Thorin cupped Rose's face in his hands. "Rose, amralime. Forgive me..." He said sadly, staring down at Rose's arms. "I have caused you so much pain." Rose leaned against the wall, closing her eyes. "I...Why are you doing this? Is this a joke?" She said as she crawled back slightly, still staring at Thorin. Rose stared at Thorin, glaring her green eyes at his blue eyes. She stood up, and began to walk away. "Wait." Thorin's hand grasped Rose's wrist. She turned hesitantly and looked him in the eyes. Thorin bowed his head in shame. "Will you forgive me? For all the cruel things I have done to you?" Rose narrowed her eyes. She felt like crying and sobbing, but she held back her tears. "Yes. I...I forgive you." She pulled her arm away from Thorin's grip and walked away, to join the others. She looked past her shoulder. "Will you join me?" Rose said, waiting for am answer. Thorin walked towards Rose and stood next to her. "My pleasure." He said.
Rose followed Thorin through a small corridor and then out to the others. Rose watched get up and stomp towards Thorin. "I will not hide behind a wall of stone, while others fight our battles for us!" The young dwarf shouted. "It is not in my blood, Thorin." Thorin and his nephew approached, and they stopped in front of each other. "No, it is not. We are sons of Durin. And Durin's folk do not flee from a fight." Thorin said gently, laying his hand on Kili's shoulder while smiling a sweet smile. Kili smiled back with tears in his eyes. They touched foreheads, and Rose watched on in relief. Thorin turned towards Rose, holding out his arm. Rose walked out from within the shadows with all eyes upon her. She stopped and stood beside Thorin. "I have no right to ask this of any of you," Thorin said, looking at the others. "But will you follow me one last time?" The dwarves all pulled out their weapons and held them above their heads, shouting happily. Rose pulled out her dagger and joined, reassurance taking over her mind. Everything was going to be okay.
Rose scattered around, looking for anything useful. She was never good with armor, especially because she traveled light all the time. She tightened her belt which held her daggers and adjusted the grip on her bow. She turned around, resupplying arrows into her quiver. Rose heard footsteps approaching her, and she turned her head. Thorin stood behind her; he wore no armor, only his leather tunic. "Rose," Thorin said quietly, putting his hand on Rose's shoulder. "Stay here." She stood up, looking down at Thorin in disbelief. "What? No, Thorin, I will not 'stay here.'" She said angrily. Thorin held up his hands, trying to calm Rose. "Please, I do not want you to injure yourself. There is a chance that some of us will die out there." Rose looked down and shook her head. "No, please. I came here to protect all of you. You cannot just leave me here when I am supposed to keep you all from dying." Thorin looked down at his feet, contemplating whether he should let her come or not. He suddenly spun around and walked away. Rose took a step forward. "Thorin--" "You may come. Just don't get yourself in danger."
