The warm sun hit Rose's eyes as she slowly opened them. She was sleepy, but excited. The elf gave out a yawn and slipped out of bed.
She quickly took off her night gown and put clean clothes on: an elvish dress that was designed for fighting and running, a leather corset with beautiful designs, a set of leather vambrace a friend had made for her, brown leather boots, and her Mithril necklace. She walked up to the mirror and looked at herself. She slowly brought her lifted her hand and rolled up her left arm sleeve. She stared at the large scar, remembering the pain she had gone through her whole life, and without knowing it, tears filled her eyes. She dropped to her knees, letting out tears and remembering the Fall of Erebor and what Thranduil had done to her.
She missed Legolas. His light blue eyes the color of a crystal clear lake, his long, blonde hair, the way he would sneak up behind her and cover Rose's eyes, his soft, soothing, voice, and his sweet smile. She had fallen in love with him many years ago, too scared to admit it because she was afraid that he would not return the feelings. After all those years of no return, Rose thought Legolas had moved on. She was not sure, but she felt certain.
She felt heartbroken at the thought of her love. She quickly shook it off and wiped away her tears. Rose walked out of the room, making sure not to wake any sleeping dwarves.
As she quietly stepped through the hallway, the smell of bacon and eggs hit her nose. She was suprised to see all the dwarves already awake, and seeing Bombur collecting empty plates of food from the others. "Good mornin' lassie!" Bofur gave Rose a smile as he handed her a plate of food. "You don't want to take too long eating. We are going to leave in just a bit." Rose grinned, patting Bofur shoulder. "Thank you." He gave her one last smile before he went to help Bombur clean the dishes.
Rose walked to he door and sat down on a bench at the front of Bag End. She quietly began to eat, thinking about what Thorin had done last night. Why did he ask me to join? Didn't he hate me right when we saw each other? Rose stared into the distance, lost in thought.
After a few minutes, Gandalf walked through the door and sat next to Rose. "My dear, let's get packed. We must get to our destination by night fall. I have a horse for you." He put a hand on Rose's shoulder, noticing her state. "What ever is the matter?" She shrugged and stood up. "Just...my past. And where is Bilbo? Is he not coming?" Gandalf shook his head. "I am afraid not...but that does not mean I doubt him." Rose smiled and walked down to all the horses.
After a while of packing and arguing, the group managed to get on their ponies (and horses) and began to leave. Rose checked to see if she had her gear. First, she checked her small leather bag; a brush, a small bottle of some kind of medication, a dagger Legolas had given her, a water pouch, a small bag of coins, and her pipe. She smiled, and checked her weapons: Her bow, quiver, arrows, a bottle of poison(So she could put it on her arrowheads and kill faster.) and her throwing knives. Rose felt organized and sighed.
After a while of riding, Rose heard something. She felt like as if the sound was harmless, but felt slightly threatened. "Gandalf, Thorin; something is coming!" And at that moment when Gandalf and Thorin turned around, Rose heard a familiar voice. "Wait! WAIT! I signed it!" It was Bilbo. Rose shot a look at Gandalf, who gave her a smile and chuckled.
