Rose took a deep breath as she walked through the town of Bree. The cold wind blew against her body, with her black cloak dancing in the wind. Cold rain bounced off of Rose's cloak, and mud sloshed underneath her leather boots. It has been 60 years since Rose had been to The Shire, and it was very nostalgic. She remembered when she first met Bilbo and Thorin, here in the Shire. Rose pulled down her hood, revealing her short, black hair. Rose looked up at a green sign swinging back and forth with a creak. The Prancing Pony.

Now, Rose knew that she had to be careful in taverns; every woman knew that. Rose walked up to the counter. "Good morning, sir." She said to the man at the desk. The man turned around and smiled happily. "Ah, good morning miss. You may sit at that table, over there." The man pointed to an empty table in the middle of the tavern. A drunk man burped loudly while another laughed as Rose walked to her table. Rose sighed in annoyance and set her weapons on the seat next to hers. Rose sat down and looked around, making sure no one was staring at her. Today was the 22nd of September; Bilbo Baggins' birthday. He had invited her to his party, and he wanted her to meet someone new as well. A waitress walked up to Rose's table. "Hello ma'am! What can I get you today?" Rose looked up and smiled. "Oh, just an ale and some bread please. I'm saving my appetite." The woman chuckled. "What for?" She said. Rose smiled as the woman set an ale on the table. "It is my friend's birthday." Rose said, smiling to herself. The woman wiped her hands on her apron and leaned onto the table. "Alright, ma'am. It'll just be a moment; I'll go get your bread."

As the waitress set Rose's food on the table, Rose noticed a strange man glaring at her. Rose turned her head, ignoring the strange man, and looked back at the waitress. "Oh, the name's Rose, by the way." She said, holding out her hand. The woman smiled happily and shook Rose's hand. "Flora, Flora Birchwood; a pleasure to meet you Rose!" She chuckled. "Enjoy your meal!" And with that, she walked away.

Rose began to slowly chew on the bread. She looked around cautiously, careful of watchful eyes. She finished up her food and pulled out a few gold coins out of her pocket. Rose didn't need it, for Thorin had given her a large quantity of gold and jewels from Erebor. She never used the money he had given her, only for urgent situations. Rose got up and began to buckle Anduin, the sword she had obtained 60 years ago, to her belt. She tightened the strap on her quiver, and began to walk towards the door. She pulled up her hood and began to walk down the dirt path. Rose knew the way to Hobbiton, and she always remembered the way to Bag End.

The rain slowly faded as Rose got closer to Hobbiton. She kept following the dirt road. Rose studied the beautiful gardens and flowers as she passed by. She walked up the hill, and stopped. Rose heard a familiar humming, and she turned around. There, a man with a grey cloak and pointed hat was riding a cart. It was Gandalf! Sitting next to the wizard was a young, black-haired hobbit. Instinctively, Rose hid in the trees. She watched as the cart came to a stop, only a few feet in front of her. The hobbit stood up, still speaking to Gandalf. "Gandalf, I'm glad you're back." He said happily as he jumped expertly off of the cart. Rose hid further behind the tree, still being a very shy being. "So am I, dear boy. So am I." Gandalf said as the young halfling walked away, past Rose. After the hobbit was gone, Rose walked out from behind the tree. "Gandalf." Rose called out, walking after the cart. Gandalf suddenly stopped the cart in a rush, recognizing the familiar voice. His head turned, revealing a smile from underneath the brim of his pointed hat. "My dear Rose! It has been a while!" Gandalf said with a laugh as Rose sat down next to him, still smiling happily.
