HAEYUL'SBROWNHAIR glistened under the burning sun. Her sweat covered her peachy face, cascading down from her forehead. Heavy huffs came out of her mouth as she pushed the thick blanket inside the hole in the wall. She was currently doing laundries and in order to do that, she has to exert all of her strength to carry the castles' blankets and push it into the laundry hole.
The blankets go into the laundry hole, located outside of the castle's wall, then it goes into the laundry room where the assigned maids will scrub the clothes until it is clean.
Hot aura surrounded the field as the garish sun showed no mercy, hence the extensive amount of sweat on Haeyul's face. As she pushed the last piece of blanket inside, she heard a hum of delight next to her.
"You've done a splendid work, darling." Ms. Kim voiced, her velvety voice infiltrated the human's ears. Haeyul forced a smile amidst her exhaustion. "You should take a break."
Haeyul thanked the older lady and walked along side with her into the castle, finally out of the blaring sun's reach. "Would you like tea, Ms. Kim?" She offered to the elder lady which the latter kindly declined to.
"Truth to be told, I'm fairly amazed by you. I thought you were going to give up half-way through the week, but you managed to stay punctual to the schedule I've given you." Ms. Kim revealed. "Most of the time, the vampires that I train will try to get a day off, but you didn't, even though you're a human."
Haeyul chuckled. "I used to have an exhausting routine as well back in my timeline so I can still manage with this schedule." She used to spend her days by waking up early to go to college and going home late, only to have dozens of assignments for her to finish. Not to mention her house chores which was long overdue.
"Still, you must be tired." Ms. Kim shook her head, "You've been working day and night without any rest." The brunette could only nod at her words. A lull appeared in the conversation as Haeyul twirled the silver spoon in the purple-hued liquid, the small specks of flowers following the whirlpool. Although it was a simple action, Haeyul found it oddly calming.
Ms. Kim's lips tugged into a soft smile, forming her eyes into small thin crescents. Orange rays pierced into the room as the sun began to set. Haeyul noticed it, peeking through the small window, "What should we do next, Ms. Kim?" She asked as she set the tea down.
Ms. Kim waved her hand, spurning her question. "You've done enough, my dear." The elder insisted, "Go and get some rest."
Before Haeyul could banter with her statement, the kitchen door flung open, revealing Prince Jay. The prince looked at Ms. Kim and raised his brows as if questioning her. "We just finished her training." Ms. Kim answered him.
"Oh," Jay said, "so, are you free now?" The question was directed to Haeyul.
The girl nodded. "..Do you mind joining us for tea?" He asked. "Let the girl rest." Ms. Kim scolded. Haeyul glanced at her tea on the table and accepted his invitation, "Who will be accompanying us?" She asked.
"Jake, and Jungwon might join us but I'm not sure." In that moment, Haeyul paused in front of the door frame. Her shoulders drooped down as she heard Jungwon will be there too. She wanted to avoid him as much as she could. "What are you waiting for?" Jay tapped her shoulders, "Let's go."
Haeyul grimaced and followed him, dragging her feet with every step she took. Prince Jay glanced over his shoulder, skimming over the girl's evident exhausted face. She had dark circles under her eyes, her cheeks had turned shallower than before, and her skin was paler. Jay hadn't notice this before, until Riki pointed it out when the seven of them decided to have dinner together again.
The prince pushed open the wooden door open and Haeyul entered first, followed by Jay. The room was designed with minimal decorations unlike most of the castle's interior. An enormous grandfather clock immediately caught Haeyul's eyes, wooden bookcases stood next to the antique clock, a small campfire was built into the walls, and a thick gray carpet covered the floor.
Prince Jake was enjoying his time on the cabriole, sleeping with an open book on top of his face. Haeyul heard Jay sighed, "There he goes again."
Jay knocked on his brother's head, earning a groan from the younger prince. "Wake up, sleeping beauty." Jay said right next to Jake's ear.
The prince jumped at the close contact, touching his ear, shivers ran down his spine as he sent a glare to Jay. "Let me sleep in peace." He grumbled, lying back down. "Yah, we're here to drink tea, not sleep!" "Who cares, I can multitask." Haeyul snickered at the two brothers, finding entertainment from their conversation.
Jay knocked on Jake's head again, "I brought Haeyul with me, aren't you going to greet her?" He nagged. Upon hearing the black-haired man's words, Jake removed the book from his face and sat up. "Oh, sorry- it's nice to see you, Haeyul."
Haeyul slightly bowed her head and greeted him back, "It's a pleasure to see you too.." "Jake. Just call me Jake, Prince Jake is too fussy to say."
The girl laughed, "Noted." She nodded.
Haeyul took a seat on one of the couches and Jay tugged down on a threaded rope. A maid came into the room, "How can I help you, Your Majesty?" She asked, her voice came out soft and smooth.
Haeyul noticed most of the maids here speaks in that manner.
"I'd like three white teas please." Jay ordered kindly.
A thick voice emerged from the hallways, drawing everyone's attention. "Make that four." The all too familiar voice said and Haeyul rolled her eyes as his tall figure stepped into the room. "Of course, Your Highness." The maid bowed, leaving the room.
Jungwon scanned the room, his eyes lingering on the girl's figure before he took of his coat. Many thoughts infiltrated his head at the moment, and all he needed is a nice warm tea to soothe his troubled mind. Jay noticed the tense atmosphere between Haeyul and Jungwon and leaned towards Jake. "Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" He whispered.
Jake timidly agreed, unable to form words because of the tension between the two younger ones.
Haeyul exhaled when she noticed Jay and Jake awkwardly whispering to each other, feeling the awkwardness in the room. She knew it was because of her and Jungwon. Pushing pass her pride, Haeyul decided to strike a conversation with the prince sitting across her.
"So, how was your day?"
