SEO HAEYUL sat stiffly as she eyed the prince, who was sitting in front of her as he crossed his arms above his chest. Her eyes flickered to the food she had prepared herself and back to the prince, suddenly losing her appetite. Jungwon watched as Haeyul fiddled with her food with no intention on eating it anytime soon.

His brow quirked up. "Are you not going to eat?"

"Are you not going to go to your chamber and sleep?" Haeyul questioned back with the same tone as him.
"Too early."

Haeyul nodded slowly and the deafening silence introduced itself again. She stabbed a piece of broccoli and put it in her mouth as she forced herself to eat. Once the savory taste settled on her tongue, she couldn't hold back her hunger anymore as she indulged the meal without paying any heed to the Jungwon.

Jungwon won't lie, he was amazed at how quickly the human can eat. She ate as fast as a wolf, and she could fit in so much stuff inside her petite body. A stifled laugh sounded the room. Haeyul paused and glanced up, seeing Jungwon watching her eat.

Embarrassment flowed through her veins as she cleared her throat, covering her mouth, straightening her back. "What are you laughing at?" She glared at him, displaying anger but her red ears said otherwise.

"Next time, excuse yourself to have lunch and tell someone else to cover for you." Jungwon told- or nagged her. Haeyul rolled her eyes. "It's not like your princess would let me do that."

"Last time I tried to excuse myself to the bathroom, but she said I was only making up excusing to avoid her." Only her high school teachers had done that to her. It's not like she can control her organs.
"Next time inform it to me, not her."
"That wouldn't make any difference."

Haeyul sighed exasperatedly, "When you're around, she's always right next to you. It's no use." She grumbled as she chucked in another piece of broccoli in her mouth. She winced as she felt a throbbing pain in her stomach. Jungwon noticed her sudden halt in complaining and saw how one of her hands was clutching her stomach.

"What's wrong?" He asked.
"This is what happens when I skip my meals." Haeyul said, pointing at the middle of her stomach. Jungwon didn't understand what 'this' meant, but he assumed it was some sort of sickness. Haeyul brushed it off easily, "Eh, it'll be gone in a day or so."

Jungwon was about to push against it, but her calm expression eased him. Besides, she should know herself the best. Jungwon doesn't have a clue about human's anatomy. All he knows is that they are more fragile than his species.

The two continued in a silence. Miraculously, the silence was neither tense nor deafening. It was rather peaceful. Something that rarely occurs when the two are in the same room. As the food was quickly vanished from the plate, Haeyul stood up and walked to the sink, putting her plate with the other unwashed plates.

Jungwon could only watch in his seat as Haeyul gathered all of the dirty dishes into a basket. He wondered why she was still working when everyone else has tucked themselves into bed. "You do know you can leave that for tomorrow?"

Haeyul nodded, "But tomorrow will be another busy day. Much more busy, actually." She told. "So, to lessen the burden, I'm going to wash this tonight." A thin smile appeared on her lips. Honestly, Haeyul didn't want to spend the whole night by washing the dishes, but she felt bad for maids who will have to do the work tomorrow morning.

"Spend one more night awake and you'll have prominent dark circles under your eyes."
"At least those dark circles came from my own effort to make other people's lives easier." Haeyul retorted, almost growling in annoyance.

"Yet by making other's lives easier, you make your own more difficult than it already is." Jungwon stated as he leaned on the counter, showing no sign of giving up in the argument. The brunette glared at him, knowing that he was right.

She spent the past few nights washing the dirty dishes which costed her sleepless nights, resulting the growing bags under her round eyes.

Jungwon took the basket from her grip and set it on the counter. "I will order someone else to clean these dishes. You should go and get yourself some sleep." Jungwon sternly told, leaving her no space to rebut. Not that she wanted to.

"And if by tomorrow those dishes are still left unwashed?"
"Then someone is leaving the castle."
Haeyul laughed at his response as she took his answer as a joke but stopping when she saw his serious demeanor. "Wait, you're serious?"

"When have I ever started joking?" He deadpanned, growing annoyed.

Taking in his irked expression, Haeyul decided to not press him any further. She dismissed herself and left the kitchen, making her way to her room. The wooden door creaked as she tiptoed her way into the shared room, Elena snoring as she slept soundly. Jay had proposed for her to move in with the other maids to avoid any suspicions from Princess Aene while she was staying in the castle, and everyone agreed.

Haeyul dropped on her bed with a soft thud.
Her eyes were focused on the ceiling. The room was dark since all of the blinds were closed causing no source of light to go into the room. She couldn't help but to feel grateful for Jungwon's company tonight. She may not like him- hate him even but nevertheless, if it weren't for him, she would have been scrubbing the dishes in the bathroom right now.

She made a mental note to thank him once she sees him tomorrow before her eyelids closed.
