"C'mon, Izabelle. You know you want it."

Mike was the first boy I'd ever kissed. But I wasn't ready for anything else. I pushed his hand away and wished he'd drive to the mall like he'd promised.

"Baby, c'mon," he pleaded.

I still couldn't believe he'd actually wanted to go out with me. Mike was popular. The quarterback of our high school football team. Girls fell in line at the chance to catch his attention, and he'd chosen me.

His mouth moved eagerly over my neck, and I tensed. One hand squeezed my breast and the other moved insistently at the button on my shorts. It was happening too fast, and it scared me.

"You'll like it. I know you will," he insisted, delivering sloppy kisses against my neck.

Tensing, I moved away. "I-I've never done this before."

He threw his head back and laughed. "Sure, you haven't, baby. C'mon, don't you want me?" he cajoled.

I wasn't sure. "I-I do, but—"

Mike unfastened the button on my shorts, unzipped them, and pushed them down my legs. It happened quickly. I was suddenly cold. "Mike, please, no."

He undid his pants and shoved me into the seat, my leg bumping the steering wheel. "I'm not ready," I said, pushing against his chest.

"Don't play games with me, Izabelle." His voice was cold and hard.

Fear trickled down my spine. "No, I'm not. Please—"

He held me tight, moving against me. "Stop fighting me."

"No!" I screamed as pain ripped through me. Tears stung my eyes. I screamed and screamed.

Trembling, I sat still in the passenger's seat of his truck as he drove me home. We hadn't spoken since it happened, and I was thankful when his truck pulled up beside the trailer.

I looked over at Mike desperate for something to assure me that everything was going to be ok.

"Don't even think of telling anyone about this, you hear?" He snapped with a warning.

I froze. For a moment, I actually thought I'd heard him wrong. "What?"

"Get out of my truck," he growled.

"I thought..."

"You thought I'd actually want a piece of trash to be my girlfriend?" He laughed harshly. "That's crazy. You're hot, but that's all you got going for you, babe."

Shoving open the door, I ran.

From a distance, I heard voices, but I didn't open my eyes.

"She won't get up," I heard Kyle say. "The jerk she's dating has been running his mouth at school. I think he did something to her."

This caught my attention, breaking through the haze where I'd been resting. My brother was worried. I hope he hadn't called Mr. and Mrs. Foster again. Their daughter, Ava, was Kyle's girlfriend, and we imposed on them too much. I didn't feel strong enough to pretend everything was okay.

"Izabelle, can you hear me?"

My stomach dropped at the sound of his voice. Sergeant. Donovan's hand touched my forehead in a paternal gesture that brought tears to my eyes.

Struggling to sit up, I glared at my brother. "You called him?"

"You haven't been to school in three days. I didn't know what else to do."
