[Chapter 5] Scariest Nightmare
I still can't believe it. Parang masyadong mabilis. I just personally met him earlier in the school. Now, I was freaking having an awesome dinner with him and with my parents.
Could it be possible that he's the Andrei friend I have a few years back? Pero. Parang di naman niya kamukha e.
Mom invited Liesl in. She was also laughing at my Mom's ridiculous jokes. Halata din namang napipilitan siyang tumawa.
Tss. Corny kaya mag joke si Mommy.
"Hanggang kailan ka titira dito?" I asked.
Mom and Dad scowled at me. Pinanlisikan ako ng mata ni Daddy. Naningkit ang mata ni Wren sa'kin.
"Uhm. I don't know." he says honestly.
"Rachel Mae! That's not the proper way to treat a guest!" Mom said. "You should apologize."
Umirap ako. Why should I apologize? I'm just asking an honest question.
"No need, Tita. I understand girls naman po. They were having a tough time growing up. We are all in puberty stage, right?" he smiled sweetly at Mommy.
"Pasalamat ka talaga at maunawain itong si Wren," Dad said.
"I think your Mom raised you well, Andrei." Mom praised.
Tss. Masyadong makasalanan yan.
"Thank you, Tita," he said. "I hope she's proud of me."
"For sure," Mom smiled weakly. "She's guiding and praying for you, wherever she is."
Wren smiled sadly.
That means, his mom passed away? That's probably why he's staying here?
"Anyway, kamusta ang first day of school mo?" Dad changed the subject. I'm glad that he has the ability to see and change the atmosphere of a conversation. "Did you make any friends?"
Wren's joyful smile reappeared.
"Yeah," he looked at me. "Rachel toured me and oriented me about the school earlier."
I rolled my eyes. "I didn't really toured you." I clarified.
"You did kaya. Wag ka nang magkaila." Liesl suddenly talked. Ugh. Pati ba naman bestfriend ko? Ipagpapalit ako?
"Fine." I surrendered.
"She's a good story teller, Tito," he said to Dad. "He told me the whole history of our school."
I sighed in resignation. Kailangan pa talagang sabihin? I know. And I'm a self proclaimed.
"Good," Dad said. "Buti at hindi nasasayang ang pera ko sa batang iyan."
We both know naman na hindi pa ako nawawala sa pagiging top 1 e. Alam ko that I sound so proud. But I'm the kind of person that would gladly tell proudly my achievements. I would bow at my mistakes and regrets.
"You also raised your daughter well, Tito," he said. "I'm glad I can have a friend like her."
After dinner, Mom asked me if I can show Wren his room. As if naman may choice ako diba?
What irritate me was her tone when she told me those words.
We are walking towards the hallway when he suddenly stopped. Nagtaas ako ng kilay asking what's wrong. He just smirked then remarked, "Ngayon ko lang na-realize that I am taller than you."
