[Chapter 32] Capture the Girl

I was dreaming of something lethal. I was walking on the stairs that leads to a rooftop. When I reached the top, I continued walking until I reached the curb. I tried to stop my feet but it won't listen. They are acting as if they have their own mind.

And when I fell off the building, I woke up drenched in sweat. I was panting really hard that Chip who is standing on the side of my bed looked at me with concern.

"Okay ka lang?" he asks. "You look pale."

I cupped my face. Ang lamig din ng dalawang kamay ko. Mas malamig pa ata ito sa patak ng ulan kagabi.

"I'm fine," I assured him. "Bakit ka nandito?" Tumingin ako sa paligid at nakita ko na wala nang tao sa buong paligid maliban sa amin. I realized that he is wearing our team shirt. "Where the heck is anybody?"

"They already left," he said. "Hinihintay ka kitang magising but I don't have the heart to wake you up. Mukha kasing kulang na kulang tulog mo e."

I threw the blanket away and run to meet the bathroom. Naligo ako nang wala pang ten minutes. Nakakahiya naman kasi diba kung pag hihintayin ko ang mga kagrupo ko? I was their leader yet, I was also late.

Nagbihis agad ako at sinuot ang batch shirt namin. I met Chip who's waiting for me on the empty hallway.

We both ran to meet the others in the empty field. Nang makapunta kami dun, lahat sila ay nakasuot ng vest. They all have guns.

"Oh, the princess has finally arrived," Amber said sarcastically. "Kanina pa namin kayo hinihintay."

I just rolled my eyes at her and joined the line of my team. Dumating si Josh sa harapan ko at iniabot sa akin ang vest. Tinulungan niya akong suotin ito.

I found Wren's glaring at Josh who was securing the locks of my vest. He handed me my gun. Nagtatakang tinanggap ko ito. Bumalik muli sya sa harapan.

"Since we are now complete, I will explain what the game is all about and its mechanics," sabi nya. "It is capture the flag. Sounds familiar?"

Tumango ang iba sa amin. Kaya pala nila kami pinapila ng ganito. It was all about the game.

"The objective is for players to make their way into the opposing team's territory, grab the flag and return with it to their own territory without being tagged," Josh explains. "When the opposing team's member shot you using these guns," itinaas nya ang isang gun. "You are automatically out of the game."

Kunot noo na nagtanong si Chip. "Aren't these guns dangerous? Hindi ba sila nakakasakit?"

Josh shook his head then smiled. "No they weren't. When you aim and fired it at someone, dahil sa modern ang vest natin, it will trigger the vest to shut down automatically, thus being heavy and it will drag you to the floor. The vest will only disable when a team wins."

"That only means maghihintay kayo na may manalo bago kayo makatayo sa hinihigaan nyong putik," Amber added. "Kahit anong plan ay pwede. The Blue team's headquarters are located in the south part of woods. Yung sa red team naman ay sa north," she said pointing to different directions. "Abandoned buildings ang base nyo. Kapag nakuha nyo na ang flag, stand on the roof top at iwagayway nyo iyon. Makikita naman namin agad yun ni Josh dahil panunuorin namin kayo from afar. Magkaiba naman ang kulay ng mga flags ng bawat grupo so it's not a problem for us to distinguish the flags and who is the winner."

"The game will start kapag nakarinig kayo ng malakas na putok ng baril," Josh says. "At dahil tie ang score ng both teams, whoever wins this last challenge," nilingon niya ako at ngumiti. "Brings home the bacon."
