[Chapter 33] Someone's Back

Nothing could give me more happiness than to always be on top. For my seventeen years existence, I grew up knowing that I have to strive hard for all of them to know me and hail me. For my parents to kiss me and love me.

Maybe that's the same reason as to why people expected so much of me. Alam nilang hindi ako papalpak kasi sanay na ako. They know me well that I will do my best in every turn in my life. That I will bring my family and friends honor.

Ewan ko ba kung kailan ko lang narealize yun. Hindi ko alam na Wren is giving me happiness. He is my stress reliever. Yung mga jokes nya na korny tapos akala ko noon nakakainis, yun pala yung mga nagpapatawa sa'kin.

He was the second one on my list of sources of happiness. At kahit na inis na inis ako at nabwibwisit sa kanya, it can't deny the fact that I'm happy for him to be on my life.

Siguro alam na alam nya na gustong gusto ko ng trophies of victory kaya pinagbigyan nya ako. He saved me from total disappointment and embarrassment na maaaring ipukol sa'kin ng mga tao when I failed to meet their expectations.

"And for the leadership award," Josh proclaims. Awarding night namin ang last night dito sa camp. "Tentenenen... Rachel Mae Pascua!"

Everyone clapped as I stood up and Josh handed me the trophy. I smiled at them. "Uhm... Boss, thanks for the award," I thanked Josh who casually chuckled. "Kahit na hindi ako deserving dito, ako pa rin yung pinagbigyan n'yo. Wag nga kayo! Kay Chip naman talaga dapat ito e!"

Chip laughed then reached for the trophy. "Kung para sa'kin iyan, give it to me!"

Bago pa nya makuha, humambalos na ang palad ko sa mukha nya. He stumbled back. Nagsitawanan ang lahat. Naki-tawa na rin ako. Who would never dare to laugh on Kyle Martinez's butt on the floor? It would be a dream come true para makita mo syang nakasalumpak sa sahig.

"I said that you deserve this award better than I but I didn't say na ibibigay ko sa'yo ito," I said. "Syempre kung sa'kin ibinigay, edi sa'kin. Maghintay ka ng sariling award mo ano!"

Mas lalong lumakas ang tawanan. I smiled as he hopelessly sat back to his seat. He pouted like a child na inagawan ng candy. I just shook my head in frustration.

Kahit kasi na medyo may pagka sira-ulo si Chip kagaya ni Clay, he got a childish side. He has these charms that could melt a girl's heart kahit na gaano ka-tigas pa iyon. Yun din siguro ang dahilan kung bakit gustong gusto ng mga babae kay Chip. Kung bakit sya habulin. But still, I'm awe of him for keeping his promise to this certain girl. Talagang kahit na maraming haliparot sa paligid, hindi nya pinapatulan. Maybe mahal na mahal nya ito kaya nagpapaka-good boy si bad boy.
