I'm NOT Ok: The Weathers
I enter the Inn and look around. "Hey, Layton." I spot her.
"Hi, sweetie." Layton kisses my cheek before hugging me.
"Even though this is gonna be completely biased, I appreciate you letting me get some hours done here so late." I hand her my service form.
She takes it. "Of course. Miles having fun at that party?"
"I assume so." I nod. "But don't worry. I threatened him to text me the minute he can't see straight."
"Bless you, B. You're my son's moral compass."
"What is Maya's offspring doing here?" Jared asks.
"I'm doing service hours." I push past him, now standing behind the desk.
"Say what?"
"It's just for a few hours, Jared." Layton walks away.
"You do exactly what I say and you listen to everything I say." Jared turns to me.
"Yeah, no." I shake my head. "I take calls, write down important stuff, finish at four. Then we won't have to see each other for a very long time."
"Sounds great." He grins.
"Good." I mock a grin back before the phone rings and I pick it up. "Hello, Devroe Inn." I place the phone to my ear.

"The distributor gets twelve five." Martha sits at the counter through the screen door as I make my way up the steps.
"The feed bill over six months at five percent." Jonathan opens the cabinet and I push the screen door with my foot, adjusting my hands on the crate of milk and butter I'm holding.
"Plus the mortgage at eight point two. Plus the harvester repairs gives us-"
"Fifty four thousand, five hundred and one dollars and thirty-eight cents." I head inside.
"Brianna." Martha's looks up. "Hi."
"Hi." I walk past Clark and set the crate down on the counter. "There's your milk and your butter for the next month. Maybe even more." I turn.
"Brianna, where did you get all this?"
"From Spotty and his friends out back."
Jonathan picks up a container of butter. "How long have you been out there?"
