If We Have Each Other: Alec Benjamin

"Keep your arms up." I hit Bruce with my boxing gloves as we train in Clark's barn.

"Okay." Bruce nods and I throw a few punches before he ducks, blocking my final hit. "Like that?"

"Yep." I throw punches again and he blocks it before throwing his own.

I duck before I grip his shoulder and lunge my arm forward. Bruce gasps before closing his eyes. He then opens them and looks at my fist almost touching his stomach.

"You're scared. Good. That fear—it'll keep you alive. It'll help you." I nod. "So how do you get out of this?"

Bruce's eyes dart back and forth before he lifts up his leg. He lightly knees me in the chest and I stumble back a bit before groaning.

"Brianna!" Bruce panics and he rushes towards me before I twist his arm, then slamming him down on the ground. He grunts as my forearm lands on his chest.

"Sometimes it has to be personal, sometimes it doesn't. When we're training, we're not friends and I'm not a girl. We're opponents." I help him up. "You okay?" I cup his neck.

"Yeah." He nods. "You have a nice home, Clark. Thank you letting me stay." He grins and I turn my head.

"You're welcome, Bruce." Clark leans off the wall.

"Once again, by law, this is stalking." I inquire.

"How can it be stalking from my own home?"

"This isn't a house. It's a barn." I raise my eyebrows before taking off my boxing gloves. "You know, I'm still shocked Alfred allowed this."

"Why wouldn't he? He trusts you as much as I do." Bruce tells me. "How's your ear?"

"Better." I nod.

"Have you spoken to Selina?"

"No. Why?" I cheekily grin.

"N-No reason."

"C'mon, you gotta do better than that. Stevie Wonder can notice your affection for her."

"Says you." Bruce raises his eyebrows.

"Yeah, what about me, kid?" I cross my arms.

"You know what I'm talking about. And you're a kid too." He tells me and I walk closer to him before looking up.

"Am I?" I place my hand over his head, referring to our height difference.

"I'll taller than your mom."

"Everyone is." I scoff.

"Welcome to the Hate Brianna Brady Club." Clark pats Bruce's shoulder. "Be prepared for a lifetime of misery."
