Cold and Empty: Kid Rock
"Looking for something special?" I stop peddling.
"My mom's birthday's coming up." Clark turns to me.
"Maybe not get her something that belonged to Rose DeWitt Bukater."
"Who?"
"I'm gonna pretend you didn't just say that and punch you instead." I punch his arm and he just looks down at it. "Rose from the Titanic."
"Oh. That's her actual name?"
"Yes, you nimrod. And Rose is just a character, she wasn't an actual passenger on the boat. Same goes for Jack."
"I know, nimrod." Clark mocks me.
"You can't mock." I tell him.
"I wasn't mocking."
"Yes, you were. And you can't mock the mocking."
"Says who?"
"Me. I mocked first. Therefore, you can't mock back because I already mocked."
"Okay, now I'm just confused." Clark inquires.
"About what? I didn't say anything." I shake my head and he sends me a playing glare, making me mock a grin. "Look, you picked this out, so I have a small sliver of faith that you can pull another win out of your ass, Kent." I hold up my number pendant. "I mean, if anything in there didn't look like a thousand years old, or if the prices weren't higher than your IQ, or your dignity." I nod.
"Thanks for the boost of confidence. That was really encouraging." He nods back.
"I'm an enabler." I shrug before going to peddle off.
"If I say ow, will you go in there with me?" He questions and I punch his chest. "Ow!"
"Sure." I push the brake line down.
Clark follows me into the store. "I was thinking maybe getting her something silver. Like the watch you got me." He holds up his arm, showing me the watch on his wrist.
"Such a mama's boy." I exhale and shoving my hands in the pockets of my leather jacket. "Hey, maybe you and your mom can do each other's hair. Paint your nails too."
"Very funny."
"I am, aren't I?"
"Very much so."
"Okay, you're the front, I'm the back. Meet you back in five with some viable options." I head to the back.
I start looking at the necklaces and earrings. I then spot a silver chain with a ruby as the jewel. I nod to myself before I spot three more necklaces. The first one is a gold chain with a sapphire, a silver chain with a diamond and another silver chain with a rose quartz heart.
