"It's morning?" I squeeze my eyes shut.
"Yeah." Clark replies.
"No, no." I bury my head in the crook of his neck and he chuckles. "I need a sedative. I don't care what kind, I need it."
"You got two hours."
"Good." I lift my head up before finally opening my eyes. "Because this is the best sleep I ever had." I drape my arm over his stomach.
"Really?" Clark questions.
"Yeah." I whisper before laying my head back down on his chest. "I'm not anxious, I'm not on edge, I'm just...tired." I close my eyes and I feel him gently run his fingers up and down my arm. "Jim, you're still here?" I realize.
"Yeah." Jim replies. "Where else would I be?"
"Eavesdropping is rude, you know." I keep my eyes closed.
"It's not eavesdropping if we both live here."
"Technically, I live in three houses. Here, Bruce's and my house back home."
"She got you there." Clark inquires.
"Did you have a good birthday?" I ask.
"The best. Thank you." He kisses the top of my head.
"Good. I'm glad, Kent." I snuggle more into him and he tightens his arm around me. "You have school, don't you?"
"I-"
"You think I wouldn't forget?" I sigh before sitting up.
"I can-"
"No, you're going to school. Go." I punch his arm.
"I'll call you later." Clark tells me.
"Just not when I'm working, okay? I don't have time for phone calls from nine to seven."
"Liar." He scoffs before putting his shoes on, then standing up. "Nice seeing you, Jim."
"You too." Jim walks over and hugs him. "Say hi to your mom for me."
"I will."
"Happy birthday."
"Thanks." Clark grins and I jokingly wink at him before he leaves.
"I don't know how you did this everyday, Jim. It's exhausting." I rub my hands down my face.
"No kidding." Jim scoffs. "So you and Clark."
"Nope. Just friends."
"Uh-huh."
"We are. Besides, I have someone." I get up from the bed.
