  Swing, Swing: The All-American Rejects

"Hi." Clark says as I head out of my meeting.

I stop and furrow my eyebrows. "What are you doing here?"

"Just observing."

"Chloe send you?"

Clark huffs. "No. I quit the Torch."

"What? Why?"

"Don't worry about that right now. How as it?" He walks down the stairs with me.

"You're the one who peeped around for two hours straight like The Night Stalker." I inquire.

"Richard Ramirez."

"Guess that Serial Killer Encyclopedia came in handy after all, Kent. Not bad."

"Thank you." Clark grins.

"That wasn't a compliment." I shake my head.

"Good, because then I'd feel obligated to say something nice back and my mind just goes blank."

"Right back at you." I look around. "Layton said she'd be here."

"I told her I would pick you up while she goes with your mom for a checkup." Clark tells me.

"Well, like I was gonna tell Layton, I have legs for a reason." I start to walk and Clark lifts me up by the waist, then setting me back down. "Seriously?" I look up at him and he raises his eyebrows. "Prepare for a long week of verbal abuse." I point to him band turn to his truck.

"Can't wait." He opens the door for me.

I stop and glare at him. "This is the last time." I head inside and he gets in the driver's seat. I put on my seatbelt and cross my arms.

He puts on his seatbelt and starts the car. "So how long are the meetings for?" She drives.

"Until June. Then I leave for my internship."

"Feel good still doing it?"

"Yeah." I nod. "I worked hard to get in. The spot's mine."

"Yes, it is." Clark nods back. "What do, uh, what do you guys talk about? Sorry, stupid question."

"For once, Kent, your question is not stupid." I grin and he scoffs. "We just talk about everything basically. Our lives. Things that happened that may have led us to substance abuse."

"Have you told them about..."

"No." I shake my head. "Just my dad."

"You don't have to say anything you don't want to."
