Rooster's POV
He slaps my ass when I get out of bed to get ready for the day. I say "pervert" and he says "you love it." I say "no, I love you. Therefore, I can forgive." He says "your thighs are beautiful."

I chuckles saying "Jake. Wait till I wear the tan khakis for when we leave this place." He says "I love how you fill out those pants" and I smile, him kissing me. Jake says "I got us something." I say "what?" He says "I got us these rings that play each others pulse on it. Like if we wear them, they will send our pulse to the other ring."

I say "ok, that is so cute" and he takes them out of the box saying "I love you." I say "I love you too" kissing him and he puts the ring on me and I say "let me do it for you." I grab it and I put it on his wedding ring finger as he did for me.

I say "you're such a romantic and I'm loving it more and more everyday" and Jake smiles saying "I love you, babydoll." I say "I love you too" smiling into his kiss.

Then we get ready and we go to the classroom together but separately.

We sit down and I watch Vice Admiral walk in instead of Pete. I look at Jake then I look back at Cyclone, the Vice Admiral, who says "Maverick will not be working with us anymore, let me give you the new criteria." We all look at each other and he starts giving us the new criteria for the mission which makes this now a suicide mission but they aren't telling us that.

Jake says "why'd you change it? Mav made it so strict, so we'd have a chance to come out alive. You are making this easier for us but now we're definitely going to die." Then we look to the screen and someone is flying the course and I hear Maverick come over the speaker. He says "set me for two minutes and fifteen seconds." They set the clock and he flies through and makes the time and hits the target.

I say "holy fucking shit, he made it." Jake says "yeah, holy fucking shit." The Vice Admiral walks out just so beyond mad and I say "I think it's no longer a suicide mission." Phoenix says "we were on a suicide mission for all of five minutes."

I say "what a day."

We are eventually told that this mission is happening as soon as possible and Maverick is now leader of the team going out. Cyclone says "who's your wingman?" Maverick says "Rooster. I also want Phoenix and Bob. I also want Payback and Fanboy."

Cyclone says "everyone in the backup crew take your positions." I tap the ring to feel this boys pulse racing on my finger and I look at Jake and he gives me the same look. We go out to the tarmac and I look at Maverick saying "hey, I have to tell you something" over the loud engines. He says "it can wait for when we get back" when a loud buzzer goes off.

I go over to my plane and Jake says "you give them hell, babydoll" him practically yelling. I say "will you marry me?!" He says "when you get back, I sure as hell will!" I smile at him and he smiles, looking down, and I get ready to move.

I taxi and I give the guys the 'I'm ready' signal and the let me go. I get out there and I do my thing, us getting in there, Maverick making the shot, and doing a steep climb. As soon as I get out I hear Bob saying "smoke in the air!" I say "shit" and I do the best I can to get these bomb things off my ass.

I say "out of flares, Mav! What do I do?!" Maverick goes over me and takes them all out, him getting shot down. I say "shit! No! Anyone see him?!" I hear that's a negative" from everyone and I say "I'm going after him." Base says "you can't do that, search and rescue will go after him later." I hear an "especially in an F18."

Base says "report back to the carrier." Jake says "permission to launch and fly air cover." I hear a "negative" and I say "I'm going back!" I hear a "no, you are not! You won't make it in an F18!" I turn around and ignore orders. Who cares, I'm probably dead anyway. I don't care. I need to make sure he's alive. He's one of the only people I have left. I need him more than I ever knew before.

When I get to about where he went down, I see an enemy plane and I shoot them down. They didn't even see me. I mumble "holy shit, I lived" when I go to the ground as controlled as I can. I get out and I see Maverick when I start moving over the ground and he says "you shouldn't of done that!"

I say "you're all I have left really! Of course I'd come back for you even if I absolutely hated you!" Maverick says "you piss me off but what the hell can I do now?" We cover a bunch of ground and I take my glove off, tapping my ring, and Jake is gonna give himself a heart attack if he doesn't breathe.

I say "we better fucking get back" and we get down on the ground as planes shoot at us. I say "what the fuck." Maverick says "I have a plan" quietly and I say "with that fossil? Yeah, that'll work" quietly. Maverick says "I shot down three planes in one of those."

We get over to a Russian F14 and Mav says "when I tell you you're going to flip this switch and this then this and finally, this. Alright?" I nod and he tells me what to do when he gets in the plane. He says "ok, get in!" I get in the back and he says "try to get the radio going" and I say "how?!"

Maverick says "I don't know, that was your dads department!" I say "I'll figure it out!" He says "ok, time to go." I say "Mav, this is a taxi lane! You won't make it!" He says "let me fly the damn plane, Rooster." Maverick goes down the taxi lane and takes off, taking one of our wheels off in the process.

Maverick says "let's go home."
