Rooster's POV
I mumble "barely lieutenant. Captain my fucking ass. Not even a commander." I shake my head and I smile. We get to landing and I mumble "please, lord let this man land this plane right." Take off was so smooth. He did it perfectly but landing is the shitty part.

The landing is the smoothest landing I've ever felt and I mumble "wow." He does as he is told and no one knows he flew the damn plane. We walk off and he says "I haven't done that in years. I got my license and all my hours done like a year ago. I haven't flown a plane like that since."

I chuckle saying "you did a good job, babe" smiling and he says "I think so too" smiling at me. I say "you look tired." He says "I am, I was stressing if I remembered everything I learned correctly." I smile saying "you did great" and we go to rent a car and Jake says "what do you got?" The guy says "got a Ram 1500. That seems like your type of ride."

Jake says "that is my type of ride." He puts a toothpick in his mouth saying "come on, babe" as he takes the keys from the guy. I smile and we go to this black truck and I say "this is snazzy" and he drives us to base. Jake says "so, what's the plan?" I say "I think I want to go to base, get settled, figure things out, then maybe go out like we used to." Jake says "I think I want to unpack later. I might go to the bar and meet the guys, do you need my help?"

I smile saying "no. You do what you want" squeezing his hand. We park on base and he says "one last kiss" taking the toothpick out of his mouth. I say "I'll see you in a bit" kissing him slowly and he smiles against my lips. He says "I'll walk if you want to drive this thing."

I say "never was a truck driver, let's see how I do" and he hands me the keys. I say "I love you" and he says "I love you too, babydoll. I'm in it for the long haul. If we have to be quiet about it, I'm here for you, doll. Well hell each other out, yeah?" I say "ok. We can talk to Cyclone tomorrow morning."

Jake says "tomorrow morning before briefing" and I say "probably before any of the kids get up." He says "these people are probably gonna be our age. This is going to be a train wreck." I kiss him saying "when you see Penny, let her know we're keeping it quiet. Befriend the people, don't make enemies, and don't get drunk. We have things to go over tonight."

He says "like curriculum things?" I nod and we go our separate ways. I bring some of my shit in and a woman comes over saying "hi, Rooster. Your room is right over there. You get a private room now. Congrats on becoming an instructor." I smile saying "thank you, where's Hangman gonna be? I gotta know so I can avoid him at all costs."

She says "good luck with that, right there" pointing diagonally across from my room. I bite my lip and I nod, unpacking some stuff, and getting sorted. I change my outfit and I go out to the bar. I go up to the bar, pushing through a bunch of new Top Gun students saying "can I get a beer?" She says "whose tab is this going on, Rooster?" I say "the big man over there" pointing at Jake.

She smiles saying "he was talking to me earlier, he does not like you, does he?" I say "the only person that doesn't like me, Penny" and she chuckles saying "have fun teaching together." I say "I'm ready for hell." One of the guys say "wait, you're the teacher?" I say "you aren't ready."

I go over to Jake and I just lean on the wall and he says "as I live and breathe, Bradshaw." I raise an eyebrow saying "you look good?" The new Top Gun kids just follow me and Jake says "I am good, Rooster. I'm too good" winking at me. I could die happy right here. This man has me swooning.

This time while I'm here, it's gonna be long and I have to see this man all the time. I won't even be able to do anything! I shake my head at him saying "befriend the children. Don't leave them hanging out to dry, Bagman." He says "don't run out of fuel, Bradshaw."

I walk away, going to the bar, and Penny says "difficult, huh?" I nod saying "it's gonna be hell unless we can get them to change the rule" quietly. She says "you guys are cute and your banter is so funny. You have a strong relationship. You will pull through" quietly. I smile saying "thank you" twisting the ring on my finger.

Jake comes over and stands next to me saying "you ok?" I say "now that you're here, I'm doing so much worse" smirking and he chuckles mumbling "you're something else." I go to sit down at a table and Jake brings me another drink, sitting next to me so he can look at the new students making friends and reviving rivalries.

I mumble "thanks, honey." He taps his ring against the table saying "I wonder who flies with who." Two Top Gun students walk in holding hands, just two guys being dudes. I look at Jake mumbling "those guys are gonna catch onto us in a blink of an eye if we aren't careful." Jake mumbles "if they don't get caught first." I pull my phone out and I look at the student handbook and there is still the rule of no relationships between students. I look at the instructor handbook and it has the same exact rule in it.
