Naruto was already gone when you got down there, lost to the beast within him. You checked to see if Hinata was alive and healed what you could of her injuries before going after them. Naruto wasn't the only one who had a bone to pick with Pain. That measly puppet had not only killed Sans but desicrated his dusting sight. That angered you to no end and made you want to give in to your instincts. So you did. You let your ferality loose. Even in a more feral state of mind, you knew to avoid the tailed creature. That was a fight you couldn't win. You also knew you couldn't attack while the creature was attacking the human, or you would be caught in the crossfire. Your feral eyes watched as the creature attached with the very earth before it started to further transform and gain more of a skeletal structure. You took this brief moment to attack from behind and bury sharp fangs into his shoulder before lunging away to evade strange balls of pure power from the beast. It seemed to ignore your presence, giving you the opportunity to distance yourself from its power.

At the next hesitation, the beast seemed to struggle with some sort of green energy, you snapped forward again, clawing at the human who tried to fend against you with a black rod. It seemed he couldn't use his power at the moment. "You must be the offspring to that Skeleton." You snarled in response and lunged again. Why wasn't the venom killing him?! Your teeth snapped around the black rod, and you both pushed for some sort of leeway before your instincts told you to distance from him. You escaped just in time for the beast to attack the human again. You followed as the human began to flee the beast, awaiting your next opening as the beast fired a beam at him. When the human stopped, your instincts told you to stay to the ground, far from the human and the beast. You obeyed, knowing your instincts haven't been wrong yet and watched as the very ground broke up - much like what happened earlier - and tried to trap the beast in a sphere. You could sense its anger and whimpered as its power seemed to increase, the beast bursting forth from the sphere as a sort of giant canine.

The fox disappeared much to your surprise, replaced by another human. A familiar human. The human quickly showed his power, throwing powerful attacks at the human that had been fighting the beast. The two humans started to fight via hand to hand combat and you took the distraction to get behind the original human while the other got one of the black rods and wounded himself. You lunged again at him for the third time, and your claws tore at his shoulders as you went for the killing blow. "[Y/N]!" You glowered at the human who paused. It gave the human beneath you enough time to fling you from his body with his power. You yelped as you landed heavily on your side and picked yourself up to shake it off. They were fighting again, the humans. "Come on [Y/N]! SNAP OUT OF IT!" His words seemed to be directed at you. "YOU'RE NOT A KILLER, [Y/N]! YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND!!!" He yelled as he struggled against the other human. It made your soul ache. It was time to come back and face reality. Naruto needed you back, now.

The battle ended with a Resengan on one side and a blaster on the other. You quickly found yourself hating the taste of blood on your tongue. "Hey... I'm going after the real Pain, wanna come with..?" Naruto was hesitant. He knew that wasn't you. The thing that had attacked Pain like a wild animal and glared at him as if he were next. He knew the feeling well, and knew it wasn't easy to talk about. You shook your head at him, leaning back. "I've been using my magic all day, I'm pooped..." You had let your instinct take over. Had it scared Naruto? You had wanted to attack him next, once you finished Pain. So it was a good thing he pushed you away. It was even better if you didn't do that again... "Alright... talk to you later, ok?" You nodded and paused, "I'm sorry, Naruto." He merely laughed. "Don't worry about it! Everything worked out in the end so don't even worry about it!" You smiled a little, watching as he left to face the real Pain. With a small sigh, you got to your paws and started walking. You were serious about the magic thing.

You ran into Guy and Neji on the way back to the village. "Don't bother going after him... he needs to do this alone." You informed them before they could even try to have a say. The two looked at each other and then to you. "How are you, wounded?" You shook your head. "Nothing I couldn't heal myself. I am in need of a nap-" As if on cue, you yawned. Guy hesitated. "That's not what we meant, [Y/N], though it's good to know your physical condition is good!" You bowed your head a little. "He'd been dying for a long time, I had time to prepare..." You replied. It wasn't fair, but life wasn't fair. As a shinobi, you were going to experience loss... that didn't make it easier, but at least he wasn't suffering anymore. That's what you kept telling yourself anyway. The boys decided to walk back with you. The village was waiting for Naruto with bated breath was was a nice change of pace. Both Kakashi and Hizuki came to you to check on you, the former giving you a hug. "You did good, [Y/N]..." You returned it in silence, finally allowing yourself to cry over Sans' loss.
