"there's something i must tell you."
the place went quiet as each of you waited in anticipation for the nurse to elaborate.
"has something happened?" you asked what everyone had been thinking.
the nurse took in a deep breath. she didn't know how to word it, but tried regardless. "we believe tomo is still alive."
silence took over once again, with everyone being overcome by different emotions. yoimiya and sara were confused, you were shocked, kokomi was surprised, and thoma was uncertain if he heard correctly.
meanwhile, itto raised up from his seat and sauntered towards the nurse. soon, a wide smile was plastered onto the giant's face. "i knew it! i knew he wouldn't leave us!" he turned around to face you and the others. "he's alive, my bro survived the shot!"
everyone simply stood there wide eyed. each staring at the nurse in disbelief, not knowing whether to be happy or wary.
"what..." you mumbled, "how's that possible... i thought he—" you didn't continue and averted your gaze elsewhere. this didn't make any sense. you didn't want to give yourself false hope.
"lazarus syndrome, in simple words, is when a patient's heartbeat returns after being presumed dead. it's incredibly rare so we were surprised to see it. however, it is very much possible," the nurse explained.
"i've heard about that as well," kokomi added, "it's a miracle truly."
you slowly took in her words, still in pure disbelief. tomo came back alive? you didn't even know that was physically possible.
once the news finally registered in everyone's mind, ecstasy overflowed everywhere. joy was evident on everyone's faces.
yoimiya smiled as she quickly embraced you and sara. "it's going to be okay after all!" she exclaimed with tears.
you grinned cheerfully, looking back at the others. they were all happy. and they were happy because tomo didn't leave you guys.
tomo wasn't dead. everything would go back to normal again. you'll be able to see him again. tears began forming in your eyes from both the relief and bliss.
itto couldn't contain his happiness either as he started laughing. "tomo is alive! tomo is alive!" he cheered, picking up thoma and spinning him around, which scared the living daylights out of the poor guy.
"itto please put me down!"
sara simply couldn't believe it. she didn't even know how to react. all she was aware of was the vast amount of relief she felt. tomo's death would've changed everything forever. and now, there was hope again.
though, the nurse interrupted the happiness by loudly clearing her throat. "there's also something else i must say," she pointed out, making everyone stop and look at her.
