I didn't want to let go of the hug. not even 10 minutes ago, I didn't want to see Michael. now, I don't want to be with anyone else.
he slowly let go of me while I sighed at the loss of contact. he just smiled and grabbed my hand, leading me through the door to the library, then out to the car.
the drive to my place was silent, Michael humming tunes every once in a while as he stroked my thigh. when we got home, we walked inside to see my parents standing there, arms crossed with happy looks on their faces.
"uh, what's going on?" i stepped forward hesitantly.
"I'm guessing Michael told you about the gift we're giving you guys .for the weekend?" mom also walked forward and I nodded.
"go pack your bags. we know you've been stressed, Dev. you guys can leave tonight. and here's money, by the way," my mom extended her hand and handed me $200.
"jeez, 200? that's a bit much, mom," I said slowly looking at the money.
"go out for a nice dinner. we want this weekend to be clear your head," my mom and dad smiled and I hugged them both. it's so unlike them to be so considerate. I wonder what got into them.
Michael and I walked up the stairs, then into my room.
be helped me pack while we made plans for the weekend.
many laughs and plans later, we noticed it was already 7:00.
"shit. that was fast. did I tell you my bags are downstairs? your parents helped me with everything..." Michael looked down sheepishly.
"you're adorable. wanna get going?" I asked shyly. gosh, I'm tired.
"yeah, baby girl. you can take a nap on the way there. I have plans for the night ," Michael smirked and winked at me as we left my room and went downstairs.
we both said goodbye to my parents and got into Michael's car.
"this weekend will be memorable. I promise," Michael came closer to my ear and whispered, "if you're a good girl, it'll be even better..."
my eyes widened and I could feel the heat rise to my cheeks. the slightest things Michael does make me go wild.

the drive was about an hour of Michael and I singing along to whatever song was playing on the radio. I don't think I could've done this with Ashton.
he would've flaked on me saying one of his normal excuses. Michael would
never leave me hanging.

flashback
I picked up my phone and checked myself one more time in the mirror. I needed tonight to be just perfect.
seeing it was already 7:45, 25 minutes passed the time Ashton said he would pick me up, I decided to text him.
Devon: hey, babe. where are you? it's already 7:45...
he didn't respond for the next 10 minutes, making me quite aggravated.
Ashton: oh, shit. I forgot to tell you. I have some stuff going on tonight. I don't think we'll be able to go out. I'm sorry, dev. love you xx
well, shit Ashton. of course he would bail on me. I mean, who needs to celebrate our anniversary anyway, right? ugh.
Devon: oh. um, okay. love you too:(
I ran back upstairs and flopped back onto my bed. tonight was supposed to be a beautiful dinner. instead, it will consist of me eating the cookies I made Ashton and watching Gossip Girl.
