m/n gripped the handle of his suitcase, looking behind him at the airplane gate he exited. he never understood why he left home.
he loved how his home felt, how his blankets wrapped him in warmth. he loved the food his dad would give him every night, giving him a warm hug. how his mom and dad would still kiss his forehead, how he knew how much they loved him. but it still didn't fill an empty gap inside him.
he missed the place he was in. three months ago, he had a big whole in his heart, stuffed up with cotton, filled with more love than ever before. but he decided to stop the warm, comforting flow and press pause and return home.
"babe, you look so pretty." the voice said, carefully kissing the top of his boyfriends head. m/n quickly hugged the older male's torso, getting lost in his warmth.
he was scared.
"i'm going to go home for a few months hyun." he whispered, his voice muffled by his boyfriends soft jacket. "i want to pause. pause what we have right now."
he didn't know why he couldn't bring this relationship along with him. but he did know. he was scared. scared that he would be forgotten. "i'm sorry."
his boyfriend's eyes stayed on him, reassuring him with just a glance. "i understand baby. i'll wait for you, until you're ready again."
"-excuse me sir? we have to get ready for the next flight. if you could head onto your next location that would be great." the flight attendant said, smiling at m/n. "i'm sorry." he said, bowing quickly before moving away, his suitcase dragging behind him.
he was in a deep pit inside his mind. it wasn't an upsetting one, nor was it happy. he was simply coasting in a ocean of thoughts, his small, quivering body rocking around in a wooden row boat.
he walked down to the baggage claim, grabbing his old suitcase. the stickers on it had started peeling off a few years ago, but m/n didn't have the heart to rip them off. he remembered placing each sticker on.
"come on, just so it, you're not going to regret this." his boyfriend said, showing m/n a sticker of a really corny shark that they found at a rogue surf shop on the coast of florida. "hyun this is not a smart investment." "babe it's a sticker." "jung jaehyun don't you dare buy that sticker-" "that will be 50 cents sir." "jaehyun." "come on babe, lets go."
jaehyun happily grabbed his boyfriends hand, taking him outside. he opened the car door, sliding in on the opposite seat. jaehyun quickly kissed his boyfriend's cheek before starting the car.
m/n quickly rubbed down the edges, the memory coming back to him like a strike of lighting in a kiddie pool. he would remember everything.
he quickly flagged down a car, hopping inside. telling the driver his destination, m/n stared out the window, watching the calming scenery go by. it was beautiful. quiet. it let him think easier, resting his mind.
as they slowly turned up the road, m/n exited the car, grabbing his suitcases from the trunk. "thank you." he said, paying the driver, slowly walking up the sidewalk to jaehyun's house.
knocking on the door, m/n held his breath, not wanting to look. in front of him, he saw a sleepy jaehyun, rubbing his eyes. "m/n? you're home?"
"i'm home jaehyun." he said, wrapping his arms around jaehyun's torso. it was a warm hug, slowly filling the hole in m/n's heart.
"i want to try again." he said, gripping onto the boy's shirt.
"i was waiting until you said that. now come on, let's get you unpacked."
