"Kelly, we need to talk to you," Jack starts. She dreaded this. Kelly was so young and didn't need to go through this but they had to tell her everything. "Okay!" the little girl says, energetically. Soon, she wouldn't be so energetic. Jack reaches for Gibbs' hand and he gives it to her, squeezing her hand.
Jack takes a deep breath and looks at Kelly. "You know how your mom told you to go hide in the bathroom?" she asks. "Yeah. She said I'd be safer there and that she loved me to infinity and back. Where is she?" the girl answers and asks a question in return.
"Kelly, both of your parents they-they're up in heaven," Jack says with tears in her eyes. "Heaven-heaven? Like, they're-they're-?" Kelly asks. "Yes," Jack answers, nodding her head. "Mommy and daddy are gone?" the girl asks.
Jack nods her head again and Kelly realizes what this means, tears streaming down her face. Kelly scoots over towards Jack and she opens her arms. Gibbs reaches over and puts a hand on Kelly's back.
"It's okay," he says. "We're gonna take care of you. You and your sister," With that, Kelly looks up. "My sister? I don't have a sister," she says, pulling away from them.
"Yeah, you do. Kels, we just found out about that. Your mom gave her up to give her a better life," Jack explains. "Really? I have a sister? I've always wanted to have a sister!" Kelly says, happily - forgetting about the sad news she had heard just before.
"Yup! We're gonna take you to go see her tomorrow. Right now, we're gonna pick up some dinner and get you to sleep," Jack says, smiling. "What are we gonna eat, Jack?" Kelly asks. "Whatever you want. What's your favorite?" she asks the little girl.
"Um... I like pizza!!" Kelly says, enthusiastically. "Okay, then pizza it is!" Jack says, looking over at Gibbs. She stands up and walks over to her desk to collect all of her things. "You know, Kelly, I like pizza, too," Gibbs tells Kelly. "Really?" the girl asks. "Yeah! My favorite is cheese," he says. "No way! That's my favorite!" she says and Gibbs chuckles.
