Chapter 2: Figures
(Aris POV)
As my parents sat down a plate of chicken I death stared Sarah. She hasn't told my secret yet and I hope to keep it that way. I kept staring at her throughout dinner hoping she wouldn't spill the tea.
You might be wondering why I'm so scared of telling my parents I have a crush? It's because I would get grounded from everything. Literally.
When Charlotte was my age, I found out she was dating this one boy so I told them and it was the worst mistake I have ever made, because I found out they actually wanted her to date someone and get married to have grandkids. Since I am the only male kid they have, they want me to focus on education more than girls. It's so stupid.
After a few minutes of directly death staring at Sarah, I took my eyes off her and got some food.
"ARIS HAS A CRUSH ON THIS ONE GIRL AT SCHOOL!!" she yelled as I flopped the mashed potatos onto my plate. The table went silent.
I stared at her in disbelief. She really just ratted me out. I ran fingers through my blonde hair before I caught my fathers dark eyes glaring at me. I just wanted the ground to swallow me whole.
"Aris may I have a word with you NOW!" he demanded. We all jumped at the sudden words. I got up and glared at Sarah who was grinning at me. I just wanted to rip her two braids out of her hair.
Once we arrived to a second room he slammed the door on the family. I could feel my whole body shaking.
"So... Is it true, do you have a crush?" he asked. I didn't make eye contact with him but looked the floor up and down. "Do you have a crush," he said for firm.
"Yes," I squeaked out.
He groaned, "I've told you this already, I don't want you to have a girlfriend, I want your sisters to have kids later in life and you to suck it up and become a Lawer."
He grew frustrated. "LOOK AT ME WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!" he yelled grabbing my face forcing me to look at him. This only made him more angry. He could see my pail face from all his yelling.
"You're grounded, give me your phone," he stated. I gasped, "What? All this over a girl I've never even really talked too?" I asked. "Well obviously Sarah knew who she was so yeah you're grounded."
I threw my phone at him and ran out the door. I could hear him yelling behind but I didn't listen.
I ran upstairs and grabbed my school backpack then ran back downstairs and out the door down the cold streets. When I knew they couldn't catch up, I slowed my pace down into a slow walk with my hood up and hands in pockets. Good news is, they can't track me even though they probably already know where I am going.

As I arrived at my grandmas house, I heard a small growling noise. I looked around to see any sort of dog but nothing was in sight. I knocked on the door and waited for a response. As usual, my grandma opened the door.
"Hi Aris! Did you get into another argument with your father again?" she asked. "Yeah," I said looking at the sidewalk. She grinned at her correct guess. "I thought so, you stay here for the night." I let go of a breath, "Thank you."
As I walked to the guest bedroom, I thought I caught a glowing figure in the hall window. I did a double take but it was gone. As I stared at the window for a few second's, I brushed it off and threw my bag down and flopped onto the bed.
After a few second's of laying down, I realized I don't have my phone. I threw it at my dad. Shoot, what if there is an emergency? My grandma doesn't have a mobile phone?! She does have an telephone on her wall though.
After about two hours of sitting down on her couch watching watching baking shows with her, she fell asleep. She is a deep sleeper.
I got up slowly and grabbed a flash light. I really just wanted to get some air. Plus she has a large backyard forest with a pond. I quietly snuck out the backyard door and walking into the cool forest with small wind gust.
~Time skip~
As the flash light reflected back at me I realized I was here. At the pond. I like to call it 'The Midnight Pond.'
As time passed, I layed on the dock staring at the constellations.
Moments like this makes me not care about what's going on in the world or at home.
Moments passed and I started to hear twigs and sticks snapping. I sat up quickly and looked around.
It could've just been a deer? But this felt different. I've been here loads of times and never have experienced this type of mood.
I got up and shined the flash light around. "Grandma? Dad? Someone there?" I yelled out. No response. The snapping stopped but I actually saw something.
It was the same thing I saw in the window. It was glowing blue with blue smoke particals coming off it. It had black eyes. Not the scary black eyes though, it looked intrigued at me. It looked like a big blue demon/entity/weird figure.
I let out deep breaths before it started coming towards me. Starting to back away before I ran. I sprinted toward the direction of my grandma's house.
Before I could get there, the figure toppled me down and pinned me on the cold ground. It's eye pupils turned blue and everything became inverted. I tried to release from its grasp but I couldn't move my muscles. It basically had in a lock of time. After a few second's of inverted colors and no muscle movement, the figure realised from its grip. I slid out from under it and stared running leaving the flash light behind. Everything was shaking and dark. I looked around but the figure was nowhere to be found. Once I started running again, I tripped over a growing root and hit my head on a rock.
I vision became woozy and my body was covered in scratches.
I took a breath, then passed out in the middle of the forest.
