Chapter 10: Mall

(Aris POV)

"GET UP FAMILY! TONIGHT IS OUR BIG DINNER SO WE ARE GOING TO THE MALL TO GET NEW CLOTHES!" Dad yelled banging on our doors.

Almost instantly, I heard Chloe and Sarah rush out of their rooms jumping in joy.

"NEW CLOTHES NEW CLOTHES NEW CLOTHES!!" They both chanted.

Charlotte and I groaned at the same time. We didn't hate the mall, we hated the dinners. Specifically the guests. They always have to get too personal with us. Also, something bad always happens during the dinners. Last time I wasn't feeling it, so I poured whiskey into the punch bowl to get everyone drunk. Obviously I told the kids so they wouldn't get drunk but, like any other sibling, they turned on me and told Mother and Father. Lets just say I thought I'd never see the light of day again. Classic 10 year old me.

"Girls! Girls! Quiet down." he yelled. He turned to all of us and said, "I'm giving you each $500 to go buy an outfit for tonight, don't come back with crap. I'm counting on y'all to choose for yourself. Now go."

He handed each of us the money and took off to their own stores.

Chole and Sarah started running up the stairs and into 'Claire's.' Charlotte walked off into a store that I dont know how to pronounce.

As I started to walk off, Father put  hand on my shoulder and pulled me back.

"You better come straight back once you have yourself a suit." He demanded. "What?! I dont want a suit! They are uncomfortable!" I yelled crossing my arms.

"I'll be wearing one too so suck it up." he demanded storming off.

"You first." I whispered under my breath.

~Time skip~

Once I got to 'Mens Wearhouse' everyone looked. at me like I was a bug that needed to be squished. I guess a 14 1/2 year old was an odd thing for them to see shopping alone. Even though my family is rich, we typically keep a low profile.

"Hey kid, what can I do for you today?" asked a worker walking up to me. I smiled, "Im looking to buy a suit under $300."

I wanted to buy a suit then have left over money for something better and useful.

"We dont have any suits under $300 that you can buy but you can rent one for around $100!" He responded. "That'll work." I said.

~Time skip~

I rented my suit and was now walking around. Nothing caught my eye though. Just as I was about to head back, I saw a store that only Father had been in before. I thought, "Why not try it out, I got some time to kill."

I looked around making sure no family members were looking and stormed into the outlet.

A middle aged man was working behind the counter along with no one else. The man took one look at me and said, "What's a young boy like you doing in a weapon store like this?"

"I'm 15 and I'm here to buy a pocket knife." I paused. "For protection."

He chuckled, "I'm afraid I cant sell a weapon to a minor."

I ignored him and walked around looking for a weapon that suits me. Out of ths corner of my eye I spotted a small blue switchblade.

"How much for this?" I asked pointing towards it. He sighed, "180."

I gasped and thought, "That much for a small knife?!?!"

"I'll take it." I demanded. He laughed again, "Sorry kid but we have the right to refuse service to anyone."

I groaned in frustration then got an idea. I pulled out my leftover money from 'Mens Wearhouse' and held it up.

"$200," I glaired but he shook his head 'no'. I pulled out another hundred and held it up now revealing I had $300.

"Tempting... But no..." he argued.

I pulled out my last card, "Keep the change..."

He groaned putting his head down.

"Alright! Alright! But don't hurt yourself." My mind instantly went to the Midnight pond with Nikita.

I nodded giving him the money. He gave me the switchblade in frustration. I guess thats a good trait I have, obnoxiousness. (I dont think that is a word what whatever)

"Do you need a receipt?" he questioned. I shook my head no.

"Thank you." I said walking out stuffing the blade into my pocket.
