Chapter 36: Unity

(Aris POV)

Something was off. Almost as if my life flashed before my eyes. I glanced at my grandma laying sound asleep on the couch. Nothing could be wrong though because everything is fine...

I'm overthinking, I always do.

Maybe it's because father yelled at me for having a crush on Jocie. But now... I dont even feel the same anymore.

I just feel, confused...

I put a blanket over Grandma and kissed her on the forehead. I put my shoes on and walked out the door.

"What am I doing!" I thought.

~Time skip~

Once I got back to my house, I quietly opened the door.

My mother glanced at me, "Wow you're back early, I thought I wasnt going to see you until tomorrow!" She set her phone down and hugged me. Not a side hug, a true chest to chest hug. It's been a long time since I've had one of those.

I noticed my father reading the newspaper drinking tea.

"What are you doing back so early?" He questioned. To my surprise, I walked over to him and gave him the same hug mother did to me.

"Oh!" He scoffed, "Aris, what are you doing?" I let go, "Uhm I dont know... I just felt like I needed a hug..."

He set his newspaper and tea down. He got up and hugged me.

Quite unexpected but very needed.

Mother joined our embrace.
We were all finally together.
Like a true family.

Maybe this is what I've needed all along.
