Chapter 9: Love?

(Nikita POV)

I blankly stared at the water processing what just happened. I gasped realizing that he was trying to drown himself.

I got up leaped off the dock to save him. Just before I hit the water, Entie grabbed me by the shoulders and flung me off into the cold dirt beside the pond.

"What are you doing idiot?!? He's trying to kill himself!!!!" I yelled.

He hovered over the pond for a second before diving in to save Aris.

A moment of silence filled the air along with shock and guilt. I sat there waiting for them both to float back up.

(Aris POV)

I sunk to the bottom of Midnight Pond not wanting to see the light of day again. I didn't want to see my mom, dad, sisters, Jocie, and even Nikita ever again.

Then silence filled the water. In a few seconds, I felt as if I was floating in mid air. This didn't feel real... But it was...

Suddenly, Entie gripped me by my cold, wet hoddie and pulled me out of the water. We were flying in the air for a second or two before he set me down next to Niki.

The silence was loud between us before she finally broke it.

"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING ARIS?!?" she snapped. I jumped at the sudden words and let out a sigh but didn't respond.

"Help me, I help you." I thought, only it was in Entie's human voice. It was like he was communicating with me. I looked up at him with guilt. He blankly stared back. Out of all of us, Niki was the most startled.

Out of all the things I thought she was going to say to me, she didn't say anything. She got up and hugged me. I went stiff, I haven't had a hug since I was a young kid. I let out a relieful sigh and hugged back. Unlike me, she was warm...Tingly warm.

We broke the embrace and sat down against the trees. Entie was doing his own thing again. He was like a newborn puppy, trying to explore the world.

A few minutes passed before one of us said something.

"I know what you're thinking, 'Rich, lonely, depressed, teenage dirt bag. Why would he try to do something like this?'" I mimicked.

She sighed, "No, I was thinking more like, 'How could a handsome boy like Aris want to kill himself if he's got more things in the world than some others?'"

"Handsome? I look like a street rat right now."

She scooted closer, "I'll have to strongly disagree." I knew what she was doing. Might as well play along.

She put my hood up and fixed my wet hair. I felt my heart rate speeding up, wait... That wasn't supposed to happen...

I got up out of shocked and walked over to the dock. Nikita followed me this time though.

I crossed my arms, "Wonder what time it is..? Our phones and bags are still at school."

"Well... You can tell the time with the stars and moon." she expressed. She held her hand up to the stars almost measuring them. I could tell she was doing calculations in her head.

"It should be around 22:32 or 10:32 pm."

I looked at her with interest. "You're going to have to teach me that sometime." I said slowly inching toward her. "Will do," she said doing the same.

After a few seconds of staring into her eyes, I bent down and kissed her right on the lips. She seemed to enjoy it because she put her hand on the back of my neck pulling both of us closer.

This felt... Odd. I've never kissed anyone before but I thought it was supposed to be amazing and romantic, but this... Didn't feel romantic at all. It felt... Gross.

Maybe, I'm not the loving kind...?

After a few seconds of making out, we let go of each other.

"I love you Aris," she said hugging me.

"I love you too," I lied hugging back.

Entie looked disgusted but broken. I could only imagine what was going through his head right now.
