My Friend?

"Sara!!" I hear someone yelling, while 3 nurses and a doctor tell him to hush.

"Oh be quiet I'm not allowed to see my dieing girlfriend the least you can do is let me yell to her best friend to get her attention" He says rudely.

Alex. Ugh.

Wait...what did he mean dying? WHAT DID HE MEAN BY GIRLFRIEND!?! Does he have another girlfriend already? Or...or is he talking about Rosie. I am her bestfrie-oh my god. DYING!

"Alex! What do you mean by dying! Did they say something when I wasn't here? Is she really dying?" I cried whipping around to face him.

"No, but she pretty much is. Go back and look at her she's attached to any and every tube and machine you could imagine!" He answered.

"Alex, please she isn't dying. She's just not okay right now, she just had an operation a few days ago. Everything's okay." I whisper trying to get him to calm down.

"How do you know that Sara, how? You aren't a doctor, you haven't been here as long as I have. You haven't heard them talking." Alex said tears coming into his eyes. "I love her, don't you get that! She's my girlfriend and I love her" He yelled.

"ALEX! Are you kidding me! How can you say she's your girlfriend little loan that you love her! Don't you remember, you broke up with HER! YOU cheated on HER. Are you forgetting this!" I yelled back getting mad as I see the name nurses and doctor turn around and just me a death glare. "Sorry."

"Come on okay, let's get out of here. Go get to Starbucks so we can talk more. I need to know everything you're thinking." I said as I grab his hand and run out the hospital's front doors.

***30 minutes later****

"I know what I did was a mistake. I shouldn't have cheated or broken up with her. I was just so hurt." Alex said in between taking ships of his caramel Frappuccino.

"Alex how could you be hurt. What on earth did little Rosie do to hurt you like you hurt her. What did she do to deserve to be treated the way you did her" I asked in between my own sips of my caramel Frappuccino.

As much as I hate to say it now, Alex and I do have a lot in common. We share the same best friend, we share the same taste in frozen drinks, obviously and we share the same taste in music. I miss talking about that with him.

"Sara, no, she cheated on me first. Well not exactly by the definition of cheating. But her and Luke. You could just tell they both had feelings for each other! What was I suppose to do! Just go along with our relationship like nothing was going on?" He asked sadly.

"Let me tell you, I know for a fact when you and Rosie were dating she had blinders on. All she saw was you, all she thought about was you. Her life was you, Alex. She loved her. But now, you hurt her so bad I don't even know if she wants to be your friend anymore. For the weeks you left her heart broken Luke has been there for her. I know she likes him but when you were dating there is no way in Heaven that she liked him. Anything she did was for or about you. All of it." I said getting up from my seat and walking towards the garbage to throw out my finished drink.

"Just because you say that doesn't mean it's true. How do you know it wasn't all an act. How do you know that? Maybe she really did like Luke when we were dating, wanted to be with him but because we were together for so long she just stuck with me. I know she doesn't like change Sara." Alex said the tears returning in his light brown eyes. His eyes are actually quite pretty when they sparkle.

"Look I just know okay. You won't want to hear this but I' telling you anyways. The way she use to look at you, she now looks at Luke. I'm just scared because I don't know if he feels the same way. I know he likes her, we broke up because of that, but I don't know if he would ever make the first move. But I do know one thing, you screwed up. She's never coming back to you Alex. Never." I say immediately regretting saying it in the tone I did. I see his eyes begin to sparkle even more as more and more tears start rolling down his face like water off the side of a mountain.

We keep our eyes locked for what feels like forever. He just keeps crying silently. You can see the hurt in his eyes. And with that I know he truly did love Rosie. If she cheated on him or not he still loves her. It's all too late now though, she's moved on. He's so cute when he cries. Maybe it wouldn't be bad if w became friends again. Staring at his face is bringing back a million memories a minute. I miss him. So much. But it all depends on Rosie, if she's okay with this. I just hope she wakes up soon. I need to know how she feels, heck if she remembers anything. Who's to say she isn't like the 5sos song Amnesia. After such an intense accident I wouldn't be surprised if she did wake up with amnesia.

We unlock eyes as Alex goes and throws out his empty Frappuccino cup and returns to his chair in front of me.

"Can I ask you one thing?" He asked regaining some of his control over his crying.

"Of course Alex, and before you do I just want to say I'll always be here for you, if you ever need to talk. I miss these meetings we use to have." I said quickly, his face turns from a frown to a smile. Thank the Lord.

"Thank you, I do need someone that understand me and that's you. But if Rosie wakes up, can you ask her if it would be alright for me to see her. I know last time didn't go well but it's been a few weeks and if she has moved on it shouldn't be a big thing right? I just...I just want to explain myself to her." He said.

"Sure, anything for a friend." I say getting up and heading back towards to hospital. I turn back around before getting out the door and see Alex staring out the window, a single tear flowing down his face. He must just be broken.
