sunwooThat kiss made my heart swell. I thought watching romance dramas had an effect on me, but it was nothing compared to that. I want more of that. More of her. I want to make her mine and admit that I could love another person. And I was ready to--until I saw who was hosting the party.
"Looks like you've moved on quickly." Miji said when I went to refill our drinks.
I didn't even look at her. I recognize that nasty voice anywhere.
"What? Not going to say anything? You really haven't changed since high school." She laughed.
I picked up the drinks and I turned around. I'm too tired for this shit.
Miji called her friend over here with a smile, the girl blocks my exit plan.
"Aera! This is Sunwoo, we were high school friends." Miji said.
"Hey, oh! You're the guy who's dating Milli huh?" Aera said.
"We're not dating." Not yet at least. I began to turn around but Miji grabbed my arm as if we were friends.
"Really? That's what everyone is saying," Aera said.
"Yeah, I've been hearing that too!" Miji said. "It's hilarious though, because Sunwoo was such an ass in high school, weren't you."
"Are people really saying that?" I asked.
"That you were an ass?"
"No, I don't give a fuck what they think of me in high school. I mean do they really think we're dating?"
"Well sure, I mean you stole her from all her friends and her boyfriend didn't you?" Miji said and Aera piped up.
"No fucking way, did you??" She laughed as if I were a tv program they were just watching.
"Listen." I stepped closer to Miji. "Nobody gives a fuck about you and your shitty lies you like to tell about people, which is why you ended up alone at the end of high school didn't you?"
"That-that's different! And you ended up even more alone than me." Miji glared at me.
"At least I wasn't trying as hard as you to be popular. I actually wasn't trying at all. Hey Aera, should I ask my old pal Hyunjae to tell you all about high school Miji?" I asked.
"Y-you still keep in touch with him??" Miji asked. "But anyway that's not the point. The point is that Milli is too good for you. She's sweet and friendly to everyone. You have a temper. It's a turn off to literally everyone. She doesn't need you to drag her down just like you did to Sola."
As if it was an instinct, I tossed my hand upwards and one of the drinks splashed her in the face.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry." I narrowed my eyes at her. "You might start melting now right?"
Miji scoffed and wiped the red off of her face with her sleeve. "My makeup is ruined thanks to you, ass."
"Don't worry, you don't look any worse than you usually do." I snapped.
"You realize you're only proving my point more. People are already talking shit about you, about how much Milli has changed. It's the last year of high school all over again. So who's to say it'll end any different?" Miji smiled when my face faltered.
"Okay well I'm gonna go." Aera faded off into the crowd.
"If you really want what's best for the people around you, you should stop getting involved with them. You're selfish." Miji added. "She's well loved, and you're not. So i'd stay away from her if I were you, if you actually care about Milli."
