Toothless couldn't believe his eyes. Smaug and the Queen were battling, tearing at each other's hide, making dents as furious as any arrow could. Any spear, for that matter.

The Night Wing had heard that Smaug had said her claws were spears, but he had never really believed her until now, that is. "we have to get out!" Astrid whispered frantically to Hiccup, who tried to get his friend to move. But Toothless didnt budge. He only jumped away when clumps of rocks and a tail whip came.

But other than that, he stayed in the cavern in the same spot, lessening by the minute. "Toothless, bud, we have to get out. move!" Hiccup yelled to his best friend, but the scale wouldn't listen.

Smaug was thrown into the wall beside them, her big frame causing it to crack. That made a reaction out of Toothless, and he leaped forward, startling the human flesh bags upon his back. He landed -- no scrambled to a stop beside Smaug, who stood. That dragoness wasn't going to give up so easily.

"bah! is that all you got, you overgrown gecko?!" she roared at the Red Death, who was growling and preparing to fire her delayed grass breath. But Smaug was smarter and shook herself, noticing Toothless giving him a haughty nudge to the exit that the other dragons had fled moments prior.

"GO!" she roared, moving away as the Red death brought her giant talon down where they stood just a few seconds earlier.

"go, Toothless, I'll take her!" but despite Smaug's pleas for Toothless to leave, he didnt. he only flew higher up to the safer ground. He had to watch this. He had to make sure that his friend (growing crush) was going to live. He didnt want to lose her and not to this green beast.

The Red Death roared in pain and rage as the queen under the mountain bit into her neck, forcing her backward. Some columns smash and splinter under the force of her tail. Both females are strong, but they are wounded. Wounds that won't heal as quickly.

Smaug begins to feel pain as the admiring wares off as she makes her final warning blow. A strong push bashed the Red death's head against the wall of the volcano knocking her out.

Once Smaug is finished, she turns around and looks at Toothless before nodding "let us go," she says flatly, but the Night Wing can see that his friend is hurting and baldy. Red scarlet blood ooze from her open flesh wounds, wounds that, if they don't get treated, will come infected, and Smaug can die.

With that in mind, Toothless and the queen under the mountain leave the volcano, flying slowly due to Smaug's wounds. When they arrive back at the cove, Hiccup leaves them in peace to get some healing salve while Toothless tries to make Smaug rest. "Smaug, please, you've hurt," he whimpered, but the female dragon snorted. "I've fared worse, my friend." she arches her neck and starts to clean her wounds, her tongue raving across her saliva, having somewhat healing powers.

It at least numbs the pain until that puny Scaleless can get her some healing salve. Toothless sighs and curls up beside her frame, going to watch her all the time he needs.

Smaug rolls her eyes at the fight, making her grumpier than usual.

"go to bed, Toothless," she murmurs as she sees the sky pain over to pink-orange and then dark velvet back and blue. The night is coming, and Hiccup is still nowhere to be seen. "no, I need to make sure your wounds are healing. A hiccup will come soon. You rest" Smaug didn't have the strength to argue, so she laid her tail curling around Toothless and her wing covering him.

The Night Wing couldn't stop his heart from meeting ten ties as fast when they touched, but he kept his face even though Smaug saw right through it. With a raised eyebrow, she fell asleep while Toothless watched over her.

I woke up to feel my head still hammering. Ugh, did I fall asleep? I thought, confused, when I noticed the sky's color.

It was turning black, with stars dotting every inch of it. Awe came over me. At home, this was something we rarely saw, and since I brought half my life in a mountain, I didn't see it as much as I'd liked.

The soft grumble of something grabbed my attention, and I snapped my eyes down to see a familiar black shape. Toothless. Soft snores came from him, along with memories of the past hours.

Dread crept over me. I should've finished the Red Death because now she'll be hunting me. I let out a groan and clawed at the ground. This seemed to wake Toothless because the next thing I saw was green eyes meeting my golden ones.

Both of us stayed silent before Toothless broke it clearing his throat and looking down. "Ahem. Well, it's good to see you awake and... how are you Umm feeling?" He asked awkwardly, averting his eyes.

I let out a sigh and looked myself over. My wounds were bandaged and smelling strange, some salve, I'm sure. "Im feeling better. It still feels like I woke up from a night at the Bar down in the dungeons" I chuckle and shake my head.

I still remember when I took the lonely mountain was the first time I ever tasted ale. Disgusting really. Tasted like yak milk.

Toothless beamed at me, all the awkward air forgotten. "That's good! When Hiccup returns from his training, I'm sure he'll-" he never got to finish that sentence.

Because a scream pierced the air and my horns prickled. Something was wrong with hiccup.
