Thawfest

Hiccup has told me that he and his fellow Vikings come together yearly to test their strength, endurance, and courage in the annual Thawfest Games. But, unfortunately, for some, it's not such a great time of the year.

Me, Hiccup, and Gobber are in the forest; the young skinny boy is trying to rip a pine from its root fest. I would've helped him, but he has to do this himself. For now, at least. Gobber is there to encourage him, just as I am. "Come on, Hiccup! Pull! Put your back into it! Put your legs into it! Put your entire body into--YA!" the man yelps as the pine slaps him.

I snort, lowering my head to give Hiccup a soft nuzzle. "you will do well, my friend," I say to him, honeyed with the sweetness and fondness I have for this boy — the boy whose Dragon helped me to become whole again.

We turn to the sound of calling and see Snotlout with his father having the same things as us. But that burly boy gets it easier done.

I snort, glaring at the boy but keeping my Hiccuå's side. He is my friend, after all. Snotlout is just a cognizance. Hookfang, on the other hand, is closer. We've grown closer since that Heather escapade. I'm glad about it. Really.

Hiccup does more training exercises until we leave for home, and Gobber gathers us all in the Arena.

"Dragons are now officially part of Thawfest. There will be three additional events. First, the fly-and-shoot will require you to fly straight and shoot straighter, " the blonde man says. Stormfly croaks as she and Astrid perform a maneuver in the air. "Ah! The Nadder Wing Walk. Impressive, Astrid." Gobber says, and I smile at Stormfly once she lands beside me, her rider dismounting.

"Next, as Astrid and her Dragon so gracefully showed us, is the freestyle. Where it's up to you to impress the judges with a trick of your choice." gobber explains.

I lose focus soon enough and curl up, listing with a half ear. Fear in my throat makes me wince, and I remember the meeting I have to have. The daily encounter with the dragons of berk. It's important. I stand up and make for the gate before calling Toothless, "I will be back," I slink out, leaving the humans and their dragons to the games.

It was time for the games to begin. The day of the human part of the games had started.

Hiccup, well... to say light, he wasn't doing very well. I felt pity sting in my heart all day, but I knew better than to break the rules just for my soul. escpesaily since tomorrow would be the day that Hiccup maybe actually win the Thawfest Games. I just hoped he wouldn't let the victory go to his head.

Humans had that about them. I winced as Hiccup lost the last game for today. he was standing before the wall of points, and I walked over to him, hearing his and Snotlout's conversation. I almost wanted to tear into that fleshy, but I held my tongue. Now was not the time to kill anyone.

"Wow! I have all the points and the best-looking picture. So unfair!" the black-haired boy said before chuckling and walking to Hookfang, who dipped his head, letting his rider climb on. But he stayed in the Arena. Hiccup answered meekly, " Oh, have your fun now. Tomorrow, everything changes... Right, bud?"

I let out a purr, still looking at Hookfang, who sent me a deadpan look. I snorted and curled my tail around Hiccup's waist, ensuring he stayed in his place. I do not want any fights to break out now. "I can't wait. Because Hookfang and I? It's like boy and Dragon have become one. We're like a Dragon. Or a Droy." Snotlout replied snootily before flying away, leaving Hiccup to call out bad installs.
